Jailbird for President

Writes Dario McDarby: "Your blog items of Tom Paxton really dredged up rotten memories of an evil time. Thanks a lot! I'll try to get my kids listening to him. They're already libertarians, to one degree or another.

"However, the music got me thinking about the walking cadaver that would be president, John McCain. I can't help fear his unresolved pathologies from his capture played out on the global stage. While I don't go in for psychobabble, I am aware that trauma can cause untoward longings and desires that could become explosive if one has the ability to satisfy them. As president, he would have more than the ability; he would have the motive, means, and method to instigate crimes of enormous consequence, all applauded by the squad of neocon cheerleaders at his side.

"As a former Arizonan, I am enbarrassed by McCain's constant blather about his POW status. What credentials for public service! Jail time!"Also, many don't know that John McCain's 'luck' turned on an eventful day. We Arizonans, who were sick of the cadaver using the authority of his office to run for president while a senator, and constantly intoning before 'the Eastern establishment media,' sought to recall this fool. Sam Steiger used his TV show, and a number of true conservative and libertarian folk rallied to the cause. I was a foot soldier again in the political arena (even though I despise politics.)

I was amazed at the depth and breadth of antipathy toward this man. John McCain likely would have been recalled by the irate Republican electorate of Arizona, or nearly so that would have destroyed his aspirations for emperor. I know this because I worked a very conservative, pro-McCain precinct where I lived. I was astounded by the anger of my neighbors. I also heard similar responses from others in the field. It was amazing.

"Then it happened... September 11, 2001: the infamous operation that further plunged us into darkness. It saved McCain's political ass and may continue our perpetual war with enemies of various stripes.

"Of course, this in no way implies my support for Ovomit. Actually, like Nock, I realize that there is little to be done; events must play out. But while they do we need to fight fiercely with our pens!! (And computer keyboards, but that's not as poetic.)"
