Alex McGrady writes to Mark Thornton and me: "I'm in Minnesota where we just held our GOP state convention. Dr. Paul came to speak to the convention. He was rather unceremoniously kicked out of the room reserved for his speech (kicked out by the Party leaders who sensed Disorder and Fresh Thinking). Nevertheless he spoke to a crowd of about 500 on the lawn outside the convention arena. The 500 represented the Ron Paul delegates to the convention, about 25% of the total.
"That 25% scared the GOP regulars to death. They were in a panic from the beginning, doing everything they could to squelch the Paul people, and try to present a face of 'unity' around McCain (who was not at the convention) to the public. But what the Paul people here have discovered is that the GOP is simply a corrupt and hollow shell run by third-rate hacks. It's as though we stormed the ramparts and found the trenches manned by dummies.
"We learned a lot this time around. We shocked the Old Republican hacks who are not used to competition. We have the clear intention now of taking control of the organization the next time around. We actually took control of a good part of the state organization this time. And the Ron Paul people have all the energy and enthusiasm here. The Old Republicans are both old (literally) and tired. I would say that the prospects for the Liberty Movement (the rEVOLution) in Minnesota are very good.
"I don't know how this compares with other states, but I would imagine that something similar may be going on elsewhere. As you know, the Republican National Convention will be held in St. Paul in early September. The Paul people are planning to march on St. Paul from the east -- starting in Milwaukee, perhaps -- to show the strength of the movement.
"I'm sure you gentlemen are continuing to monitor the progress of the political movement. So I wanted to update you on one state's activities."
