10 Most Historically Inaccurate Movies

Writes Charles Burris: “Yahoo.com has an article today, 10 Most Historically Inaccurate Movies — Films That Make your High School History Teacher Cry.

“And since I’m a high school history teacher, I’m indeed boo hooing. Not because of the glaring historical inaccuracies in these particular films but because of the poor choices the author of this piece selected. I’m sure cinema-wise readers of LRC can come up with more appropriate candidates. Here are ten which immediately come to mind:

1. Young Mr. Lincoln
2. Pearl Harbor
3. Amadeus
4. Charlie Wilson’s War
5. Julia
6. Dash and Lilly
7. Wilson
8. Sunrise At Campobello
9. The Wind and the Lion
10. Song of Russia

“However, nothing will ever surpass that infamous Second World War epic television mini-series, The Winds of War, in mindless cliches and bogus history. It made Battleship Potemkin or Triumph of the Will pale by comparison in the sheer agitprop quality of its production.”
