He was like Obama--a warped sense of morality, coupled with a mastery of rhetoric. Early on in the clip he is talking about early Gary Wills and refers to his "sheer warmongering" and "all those good things." But he charms with a smile, disengaging the audience, making them empathize with the warmonger. I am reminded of a Bob Dylan line from "Desolation Row":
Then they'll kill him with self-confidence
After poisoning him with words
