Fellow readers of this august blog, I give you Anthony as proof that not everyone in Berkeley is a hard-left statist! Furthermore, I can assure all readers that he has more sanity than the naked guy in the tree on the Cal campus trying to block the construction of athletic events.
And I fully agree with him regarding the New Deal. For that matter, Republicans love the welfare state. Keep in mind that the "genius" Karl Rove thought that the Republicans could solidify their majority by further embracing the welfare state and expanding it.
