I'm hardly an Obama-phile, but after Ron Paul and Bill Richardson, Obama has long been the least offensive candidate in this election. So I won't be surprised when Fox "News" and the Wall Street Jrnl unload on him with everything they've got.
Obama is often compared to Kennedy these days, and I hope that on matters of foreign relations that they are right. Kennedy was hardly a dove, but he did make it clear on more than one occasion that he thought that most of the high ranking military officer corps (who were advocating nuclear war) were madmen.
He also loved the novel Seven Days in May and thought militarism was a very real danger to America.
The novel was made into a movie in 1963 and released in '64. In the running commentary to the DVD, John Frankenheimer notes that the Pentagon HATED the idea of the book becoming a movie for obvious reasons, but Kennedy loved the idea and gave the filmmakers access to the White House for filming. That in itself improves my opinion of Kennedy substantially.
