Here’s a flashy new tool to determine where you are on the political spectrum. They have me as a nearly plumb-line libertarian: far to the right on economic issues, slightly right of center on social issues. However, some of the questions do not accurately gauge your position.
On the issue of the environment, it asks if you believe global warming is overblown, which I “completely agree”, but they have Ron Paul as “ten to agree” because he’s against federal subsidies for loggers. Also, they have Paul as neutral on the role of government on education because he has repeatedly asserted it is not a federal issue — they’ve made Paul more to the center on social issues because of his position that it is not the role of the federal government. For that reason, they have Paul to the “left” or Giuliani on Social issues — and to the left of Thompson on economics because he actively supports school vouchers and supports federal subsidies for environmental damage. Go figure!
