The memo has apparently gone out at Faux News that one should not behave like Bill O’Reilly, Chris Mathews, or John Gibson (i.e., as hateful, mean-spirited jerks) while interviewing Ron Paul, lest you cause a massive loss of market share. I watched Brian Kilmeade interview Ron this morning and he was very civil. He was biting his tongue, and he had an expression on his face like he was suffering from severe gas pain, but he was civil.
Kilmeade inadvertently threw Ron a home run pitch when he asked him what two government programs he would eliminate to help balance the budget. After saying he would dump the Depts. of Education and Energy, Ron pointed out that hundreds of billions could be saved by bringing the troops home from all around the world and getting out of Iraq.
That was the end of the interview. (Kilmeade has used the Faux News airwaves to advocate having the CIA set off car bombs in Iranian cities, killing innocent civilians. He has also interviewed one of those defense industry “consultants” who they always mis-identify as a “former general” to instruct us all on just how to go about dropping “strategic” nuclear bombs on Iran). And he’s just the sports guy.
