I am getting bloody tired of cops lately.
The web is filled with nightmare stories about cops and their abuse of power. It seems the taser incidents are emerging daily as of late. In the neighborhoods, cops have become habitual offenders of individual liberty through extortion and harassment.
One thing that strikes me as particularly creepy: Do you ever notice how cops all look alike now? They all sport the same absurd crew cuts meant to frighten off the poor pedestrian or “criminal” in his wake. A lot of local cops work out in my gym, and they come in and all do the same thing: they work out to build huge shoulders, chests, and arms in order to look big, scary, and intimidating. But in spite of their pseudo-impressiveness, they all got huge guts and never do a bit of cardio work - health is not their goal. So they walk around with their chests puffed out, shoulders raised up, and they try to mimic the bodybuilder’s “ape walk.” They look fat, pathetic, and ridiculous.
I laugh when I see some jerk standing over some motorist sitting in a car, and the cop has his thumbs in his belt, looking like a badass, trying to frighten some 10mph-over speeder into kissing his behind in order to get a reduced ticket. One thing that has noticeably changed in recent times is how cops now pull motorists over in the middle of the road, blocking lanes and traffic. They used to persuade you into a parking lot or somewhere else out of the way - for everyone’s safety - but now they want to inflict immediate humiliation upon some “criminal” who turned right on a red or did a u-turn where he shouldn’t have done it. It’s hilarious how the state now sternly warns drivers that motorists must move over two lanes when they see a cop pulled over in the road. In Michigan, these digital highway displays constantly warn us that we are “subject to a fine” if we drive “too close” to some crew-cutted powermonger who decided to pull over a motorist in the right lane of a very busy divided highway. Here, they pull people over in left turn lanes, in left driving lanes - wherever it makes the greatest impact.
In southeastern Michigan, they are constantly running seat belt rackets. Yesterday, they ran one in a community near where I live. Some cop parks on a corner, stands outside of the car with his arms folded on his big gut, looking like Mr. Hard Guy, and calls to others when he sees a person not wearing a seat belt. Three blocks down, there are (6) cop cars sitting there waiting to pounce. Yet somehow, we, as individuals who cannot be denied our free lives, let local police get away with this form of harrassment. Cops harass people endlessly in order to raise revenues so that the city/county can go on a spending spree. Then they hold fundraisers so that we can all buy them bullet-proof vests and their other militarized equipment?
So yesterday, I was two miles north of this setup, in the same community. I harmlessly pull out of a strip mall at 2pm, turning left onto a side road - something I have done for years. So behind me comes the cop with the usual light display. I pissed her off because I kept going until I found a suitable parking lot in which to pull over. They hate that, and it makes them furious. The further you keep going, the more they ride your butt as close as they can. She was riding my bumper and I just kept going. They want you to be frightened into pulling over immediately, no matter where it is.
So the story is that they just put up a “right turn only” sign in the driveway, on the far right where someone turning left - from the middle of the driveway - cannot possibly see it. They put up the sign, and knowing that people who frequent that strip mall would not know about the sign just yet, they figured they could sit right across from the driveway all day and catch people making the turn, and rake in some $$$. Of course, this is legalized extortion, and it’s a huge racket that makes huge dollars. Gone are the days when these type of tickets are $50 or $65. This was a $135 ticket, a confirmation of the true nature of it all: the undisguised theft of an individual’s money through “legal” means by the thieves who make the rules.
I will challenge this in court, of course, and I have a strategy that will win. Playing the dumb, sorry fool always works when you come to court and can dress and talk the part.
