The Ridiculous “Spamming” Charge

Posted by Thomas Woods on November 1, 2007 12:08 AM | Post a civil, substantive, and intelligent comment

When Ron Paul wins an online poll by a wide margin, his supporters are accused of “spamming” the poll. Well, here’s a contest he wins by a wide margin: Meetup groups. Ron Paul has more than twice as many Meetup groups as all the rest of the Republican and Democratic candidates combined. He has 1,097 of them, with well over 55,000 members. Barack Obama has the next-highest number of Meetup groups, with a measly 62.

The margin is even wider than Ron Paul’s usual poll victories. How, I’d like to know, could this be “spamming”? And if this isn’t spamming, then why is it impossible for the poll victories to be just as legitimate?
