Good Ron Paul News in Dearborn

As Dr. Paul addressed the Arab-American Institute's National Leadership Conference yesterday (see pic), his message seems a good fit to the of those attending:

"'Anyone who will re-establish the rule of law, civil rights, and the Constitution, we'll vote for him,' said Abdallah Boumediene of Dearborn, who attended the conference at the Doubletree Hotel near Dearborn. 'That's what makes this country what it is. ... Otherwise, we're no different from a banana republic.'"
Certainly this criteria fits Dr. Paul more than other speakers such as Hillary who are attending.

Other reporting provides snips from his talk and a positive note on its reception among the audience:

"U.S. Rep. Ron Paul of Texas, a candidate for the Republican presidential nomination, called for 'a return to the Constitution and protecting civil liberties' and for a foreign policy based less on making war than 'talking to other nations.'

'If Kennedy could talk to Khrushchev in 1962 at the height of the Cold War, why can't we talk to people?' Paul said.

'We certainly ought to be able to talk to Third World nations that don't even have nuclear weapons.

'The talk about the war against Islamic fascism -- whatever that is supposed to be,' said the populist congressman who is running a campaign that stresses grass-roots organization.

'I am not worried about that war -- whatever it is. I am worried about the war that will ensue after the bombs start falling on Iran.'

Paul's speech, heavy on talk of spending less, beginning to pay down the national debt and halting intervention in 'the business of other nations,' was frequently interrupted by applause and greeted with a standing ovation by about 300 people gathered at the conference in the Double Tree Hotel."

Good news!
