Ever notice that it’s always the retired policitians or military personnel who speak the truth? (Those currently serving who speak the truth soon find themselves retired, of course.)

In this case, it’s retired General John Abizaid, former CENTCOM commander, who says that the U.S. could deter a nuclear-armed Iran just as it deterred the Soviet Union and continues to deter China. He also “suggested military action to pre-empt Iran’s nuclear ambitions might not be the wisest course” and that Iran seems “open to cooperating with the West.”
