He seems to come awfully close to theocratic nuttiness with some of his statements, doesn't he? But you have to listen carefully sometimes. Rights come from God, he says. Fair enough. But that supposedly means we need the government to define marriage and perhaps do much more to promote this theistic principle. As Ron Paul, a man whose faith in God-given rights is as unshakable as anyone's, heroically makes clear: Government can't be depended upon to promote morality, religion, and family values. That is the direction of tyranny, of the negation of the very rights Alan Keyes never ceases to remind us come from God and are affirmed in the Declaration and so forth.
