Ron Paul Is in a Class By Himself

Writes Franklin Harris:

"After watching last night's GOP debate, I realized that the two major parties really are Tweedle Dee and Tweedle Dum. Each candidate in one party has a doppelganger in the other, with one notable exception.

"Fred Thompson is the Republicans' Barack Obama. Both are empty suits whose only qualification for office is that they make (some) people feel good. Thompson does it with his Southern-fried folksy charm, while Obama comes across as a self-help guru, with his bestselling
book and vacuous drivel about the 'audacity of hope,' whatever that means.

"Hilary Clinton and Mitt Romney are the Machiavellian candidates, each willing to say and do anything to achieve power. Clinton is better at it because she always nuances her positions so that she can pivot at the drop of a hat. Romney, meanwhile, turns 180 degrees on issues like abortion, gay marriage, and immigration and then hopes the GOP primary voters are too stupid to notice.

"Mike Gravel and John McCain are the two grumpy old men. In fact, they could star in a remake of the movie 'Grumpy Old Men,' which would be a better use of everyone's time.

"Joe Biden is the Democrats' Duncan Hunter because both are the most eager in each party to drop bombs on people.

"Christopher Dodd is the Democrats' Sam Brownback, in that no one can figure out why either is running.

"Rudy Giuliani is the Republican version of John Edwards. Both are reptilian ex-lawyers, and both are obsessed with numerology. For Rudy, it means repeating '9/11' like a mantra. For Edwards, it's the 'Two
Americas' nonsense. Each is also his party's scariest candidate.

"And Dennis Kucinich is the Democrats' Tom Tancredo. Both play well with a certain interest group (Kucinich with the MoveOn.org crowd and Tancredo with Michael Savage listeners), but neither can reach anyone else.

"That leaves Ron Paul, who, as the only advocate of liberty running, is in a class all by himself."
