Free marketers Ben Powell and Alex Tabarrok are seen briefly in this clip, and even those who don't agree with their argument against immigration controls might find Dobbs's dismissal infuriating. He is so economically illiterate here, calling Powell and Tabarrok (and presumably other free market economists who are against labor protectionism) "jackasses" for supporting the "war on the middle class" that is the free market. Listen to his appeal to social democracy and his disgust with capitalism and those who would gut the welfare state. Appalling! But he represents much of the economic ignorance that unfortunately is pervasive in these debates.
