This just in: The CEO of Ford Motor Company left his executive suite office today to personally test drive some of the competition's vehicles. After driving Toyotas, Hondas, Volvos, Mitsubishis, BMWs and more, he announced in a press conference that his policies and management style are working; Ford tops all competitors. "Congratulations to me!," he said.
I made this all up, of course. My purpose is to point out the absurdity of a recent news report about how the U.S. Secretary of Defense has supposedly gathered information about the goings on in Iraq and declared the "surge" policy to be a great success. The administration's butt-kissing propaganda mouthpieces, such as Ollie North on Faux News, are repeating this line of buls _ _it day and night.
No one would take seriously a corporate executive who declared himself to be a "great success," but government bureaucrats are another story, especially when they drape themselves in the American flag while they lie through their teeth. We're now supposed to believe this fairy tale from the same administration that lied us into this war in the first place. Are we a society of morons?
