Though Fred Thompson is a neocon lobbyist, he sure wasn't talking like one on the Shammity show yesterday. I only heard the last couple of minutes, but Thompson was heralding "getting back to first principles: the Constitution and the Declaration of Independence, all the Bill of Rights, including the 2nd amendment and the 10th, enumerated powers, private property rights and the market economy," etc. He sounded like Ron. Now Fred, who's even affiliated with warmomnger central (AEI), would surely make us nostalgic for Bush Junior. But he may not think his real competition for the nomination is Mitt or Rudy or John.
