Clinton and Obama

Hillary and Barack have been getting praise, from some corners, for their "courage" in voting against the Iraq funding bill. But, according to at least one cable news report last night, each waitied until the outcome was certain before casting their "no" votes. The interesting question is how they would have voted if a 49-49 stalemate had occurred, and the world was awaiting their votes. As with politics generally, Clinton and Obama can enjoy the best of both alternatives: having the pro-war funding measure pass, while enjoying the support of the anti-war Democrats who delude themselves that either of these two is really against the war.

The political and media reaction to Ron Paul illustrates that politics is about imagery, and nothing more. Truth, philosophic principles, and the consideration of consequences that go beyond the next election, have no relevance. To interject such matters into the political process would destroy the state, which can survive only on the basis of lies. That being said, the Democrats' best choice for the 2008 presidential elections might be their best illusionists, the hands-down purveyors of imagery, Al Gore and Michael Moore. I can hear the mantra already: "Al Gore and Michael Moore, That's what we've been waiting for."

You don't like that ticket? You must hate the planet and enjoy seeing people having to pay for their own health-care! Perhaps they will announce their candidacy on "American Idol."
