You Take the High Road and They'll Take the Low Road...

And they'll get high-paid government jobs before ye.

The low road to government office is a great place for family to gather, isn't it? I was looking over some info on Julie Meyers, the assistant secretary of U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement agency under the Department of Homeland Security. She is the niece of former chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff General Richard B. Myers, and at the time of her nomination she had just married "Michael Chertoff's chief of staff, the same Michael Chertoff to whom she will report, presumably through her new husband."

There was lots of criticism over her appointment because of her glaring lack of credentials. What are her credentials? Well she is the niece of a General and she went to an Ivy League law school! Before her appointment to Homeland Insecurity, she worked in the Commerce, Justice, and Treasury departments, and worked as an "associate" to Kenneth Starr and an "assistant" to President Bush.

Statism for fun and profit, folks.
