As a boy, I loved the Encyclopedia Britannica, but these days, it just can't compete with the heroic Wikipedia, founded by libertarian Jimmy Wales. The Wall Street Journal--another old medium headed for the glue factory?--hosts an interesting exchange between Mr. Wales and the chief editor of the Britannica, who is outraged at links. The vote and comments at the end are interesting as well. But then, this is the online version of the WSJ. (Thanks to Tom Bernhardt for the link.)
