As the media continue to recite the British/American government allegations as established facts - which may or may not be the case, it being the burden of intelligent minds to evaluate - a healthy dose of skepticism is required. For any who believe that the American government is above staging attacks, by hostile forces, upon airliners and Americans, I recommend going to "Google," typing in "Operation Northwoods," and reading what comes up. The Wikipedia entry on the subject is very fruitful of references, as is James Bamford's book "Body of Secrets."
