The State Against Blacks

For those who read the article on LRC today by Robert Wicks on black libertarians, I recommend the book, The State Against Blacks, by Walter E. Williams, published some twenty years ago. Another excellent piece of scholarship by Walter is his other book, South Africa’s War Against Capitalism, about the thoroughly statist nature of the former Apartheid regime in South Africa. Inspired by the all-white, communistic labor unions in South Africa who wanted to destroy competition for employment by black people, their slogan was “Workers of the World Unite, Keep South
Africa White.” They did their best by conspiring with GOVERNMENT to enact a tangle of discriminatory LAWS that lasted for decades. It was the South African GOVERNMENT’S war on capitalism.
