A cable “news” channel had the results of one of its polls, by which it determines truth and relevance in our world. The question asked whether, following the 2006 elections, people would rather see the Republicans or the Democrats in control of Congress. The preference for a Republican Congress was 35%, while the Democrats were favored by 52%. This adds up to only 87% of the respondents. Might this mean that the remaining 13% regarded the outcome of these elections as totally meaningless? Perhaps reality is beginning to have an influence on thinking.
