More Excuses for Tyranny from the Heritage Foundation

Posted by Thomas DiLorenzo at February 15, 2006 10:52 AM

It's clear by now that anyone associated with the Heritage Foundation in any way should be considered an enemy of constitutional liberty. As though we need more examples, the article mentioned below by Lew by the youngster Ben Shapiro on Heritage's "townhall.com" web site ("Neocon Party Line Central")sings the same old neocon song in attempting to "justify" the trashing of the Constitution in order to prop up the Bush regime. Namely, "[W]e must remember our history. President Abraham Lincoln suspended he writ of habeas corpus and allowed government officials to arrest Rep. Clement Vallandigham after Vallandigham called the Civil War "cruel" and "wicked," shut down hundreds of opposition newspapers, and had members of the Maryland legislature placed in prison . . ."

Excusing tyranny in the past begets more tyranny in the future. The Heritage-ites surely know this, but care not a whit as long as the corrupt Republican regime can hold on to power and help keep the big corproate bucks rolling in to Heritage's coffers.

If you happen to have purchased the new book by Heritage on the Constitution, throw it in the trash.
