New Reason Issue

The January issue of Reason Magazine (in print now) has a nice roundtable, and I happen to be one of the participants/interviewees. Brian Doherty's roundtable is called You Can Be Too Careful: How the Government's New Corporate Accounting Rules Impede Efficiency and Stifle Innovation. It is not available online just yet. Doherty asked some good questions about the usefulness of the evil Sarbanes-Oxley. One of the other participants is Bob Merritt, the guy who quit as CFO of Outback Steakhouse because Sarb-Ox was making his job a tad too tedious and inefficient. Sarb-Ox is an atrocious and strangling power play on the part of Washington, and it's bound to get worse before it gets better.

Meanwhile, as the government dumps more and more regulatory bullpoop on private business, the SEC is now making things even harder by accelerating the annual report filing deadlines.
