Comedian Al Franken will supposedly not allow the words "Bring Them Home Now" to be spoken on his "progressive" Air America radio show. Well, I just heard him on XM, and his repeated recipe for Iraq was withdrawal, after the US has "trained" enough Iraqi troops to "defend" their country.
The Democrats may be less profligate than the Republicans, but they are just Bush shills in foreign policy.
After all, Iraq--which is full of formally and informally trained military men--needs no instruction from the US. The problem is not training, but motivation. It's easy to find unemployed men to take a paycheck; harder to find those who will take a bullet. Indeed, why should young Iraqis give their lives for the imperial chickenhawks? Why should young Americans, for that matter?
