Professor Anderson, you're right in doubting that Olbermann understands any of this in the Misesian sense, I doubt this too. My point (which I apologize was not clear) in saying 'individuals are beginning to understand this concept the hard way' is that their understanding of collectivist incompetence has been sparked by this event. I recognize that the understanding is in its infancy and based solely on experience. They still have a long road ahead of them in recognizing the truth and they may never reach the fullness of this understanding.
Nonetheless, this event has created a void to be filled to which there is an opportunity. All too often disaster and bureaucratic bumbling is filled by the strongman, which is where Olbermann may eventually throw his support, but there is hope that it can be filled by the market and the truth. While it could be the case, I'm not so sure Olbermann would necessarily shoot down the calculation concept on his show, particularly with invectives. He's not a Scarborough, O' Reilly, or a Hannity where such an occurrence is a given. I think if anyone gave this guy a chance with the truth, he may run with it.
How do we get Professor Block or another Mises Institute faculty member on the show to discuss the impossibility of economic calculation under socialist management?
