The new mayor of Los Angeles, Antonio Villaraigosa, won because the incumbent, James K. Hahn, was viciously anti-secession. Hollywood and the Valley had tried to secede, and Hahn--with the enthusistic backing of an hysterial establishment--waged a nasty campaign to keep these cities oppressed by LA and the LA Unified School Distruct. Let that be a lesson to you, Mr. Mayor-Elect. Free Hollywood and the Valley!
