Oh Joy

So Rush Limbaugh thinks that 2008 might see the battle between McCain and Hillary for the White House. Hillary has been moving to the right lately, on issues where the right is wrong. McCain has always been willing to move to the left, but only on issues where the left is wrong. So we may have a pro-war, gun-grabbing, pro-political speech supression, drug warrior, pro-Patriot Act, pro-spending, pro-taxing, pro-environmental totalitarianism, pro-regulating, anti-Bill of Rights, pro-government-enforced "family values," pro-centralist Senator pit against another. They both can appeal to centrists. The only difference I can see is that McCain might really believe in the democratic-social-welfare-warfare-police state as a force for good, and Hillary believes in it mainly as a source or political power. It's hard to know which is worse.

Boy, every election sure makes me miss the last one. Kerry vs. Bush seemed even worse than Bush vs. Gore, Clinton vs. Dole, Clinton vs. Bush vs. Perot, and so on. One day we'll get to vote for either the Devil or Beelzebub. How great it is to live in a democracy.
