My students were recently talking among themselves and discussing the pointlessness of President's Day (formerly Washington's Birthday). One suggested merging President's Day with Veterans Day, and another bitterly quipped "we can simultaneously celebrate veterans and the presidents who sent them to die." It'd be funny if it weren't so depressing.
