Bush's Generosity

Posted by Thomas DiLorenzo at August 30, 2004 01:32 PM

I just listened to G. Gordon Liddy interviewing the head of the Veterans' Adminstration, who took the opportunity to turn the interview into a free campaign ad for Bush. He said, "thanks to the generosity of our president" the VA budget has increased more in the past four years than at any other time.

Well, thank you, George W. Bush. And all the time I foolishly thought that we taxpayers were footing the bill! How naive of me to not recognize that it is really the Bush family all along that has been spending its own private wealth on all those welfare program expansions that have defined the Bush presidency.

I'm so embarrassed. Why, I must confess that I even (mistakenly) believed that it was the taxpayers, and not the generous Bush family, who were paying for Bush's prescription drug socialism plan, the $15 billion sent to Africa for AIDS, the tens of billions spent on that no child left behind thing that made Teddy Kennedy smile so much, and on and on.

Thanks for using your own money to make us all look like saints, Prez!
