Reading the New York Post in the barbershop today (yes, I know, but there was nothing else available), I came across an article pointing out that New York Gov. George Pataki is seriously considering a presidential bid in 2008. With George W. Bush having written the book on How to Become President With the IQ of a Shellfish, Pataki now feels emboldened.
There's your 2008 lineup: Hillary vs. Pataki. Even some "conservatives" who would today admit that Pataki is just plain stupid will be calling it "treason" to say the same thing in 2008. What better confirmation of LRC's position that genuine change will come via some means other than politics could we have asked for?
(Incidentally, I recall an episode of Saturday Night Live years ago that featured Rudy Giuliani and Gov. Pataki side by side in the opening skit. Giuliani at least had a bit of personality; Pataki was reading his lines off a cue card at a level that might have been impressive were he a pre-teen.)
