I just watched Bush and company at a press conference from his Texas ranch. Most of the time, he came across as a 5th grader who hadn't done his homework. When asked about the Olympics, if he had a favorite part so far, he stammered, staggered and stumbled before he answered that he liked Iraqi soccer and the Afghan girl with the flag. He sounded like a kid who hadn't read Tom Sawyer and based his literary insights on the book cover. He sounded similarly clueless on more important matters, such as the war.
When asked about the Swift Boat ads, he geniously dodged the real question: Does he support the message of the ads? His answer: I tried to stop ALL these kinds of ads. I want to stop "all unregulated soft money." That's why I signed McCain-Feingold. I want to get rid of all these ads.
So there you have it. When asked about the message of a negative ad against Kerry, his answer is that all such political speech should be outlawed. His buddies fund an anti-Kerry campaign and the question isn't the veracity of the ads, but the fact that people still have some rights to political speech.
What a smirking tyrant.
