Illinois State Seal

Dan Bowden (see http://FreeAlabama.com) writes me that the web site of the state of Illinois has an explanation of its state seal, as mentioned below in my blog about Alan Keyes. According to the state's web site,

"The present state seal was adopted in 1868 when Secretary of State Sharon Tyndale convinced Senator Allen C. Fuller to propose a new seal. Tyndale's seal changed the banner's wording from "State Sovereignty, Nation Union" to "National Union, State Sovereignty" beause of the Civil War . . . . [A]nd the word "Sovereignty" was upside down, decreasing its readability."

Another word for all of this would be "monopoly government," which of course is what they had in the Soviet Union, Communist China, the Soviet bloc, Cuba today, etc.

Centralized governmental bureaucracies have always been the bane of freedom and prosperity. They are perversely championed today by Big Government "conservatives" like Jaffa, Keyes, Irv and Billy Kristol, and their fellow Lincoln idolaters. They give lip service to "states rights" and "federalism" only to pull the wool over the public's eyes. "Neoconmen" is the perfect word for these characters.
