I spent part of the day today in Hyannis, MA, home of the "Kennedy Compound," as they call the Kennedy family beach house around here. On Main Street in Hyannis is "The Flag Store," where I found a huge replica of the Stars and Bars for sale, along with Confederate flag caps, t-shirts, etc. Similar items were for sale in another store. Literally in the backyard of Teddy Kennedy, who appeared as the cover boy in a Southern Partisan issue of a few years back devoted to an analysis of "the Yankee problem."
Another interesting sight on Main Street in Hyannis is the JFK Museum, located, appropriately, across the street from "Hooters" Restaurant, where I had lunch.
Tomorrow I head up "Grand Army of the Republic Highway" to Wellfleet Beach.
