Early on in the drumbeat for war, Colin Powell publicly displayed some disdain for his armchair general buddies in the Bush administration, prompting many libertarians - including moi - to see him as the one semi-sane voice within the insanity-laden, neocon cabal. Now that Bob Woodward's new book, Plan of Attack, has affirmed that which we witnessed during the early days of the war campaign, Powell has essentially denied he ever had any such rational voice, or that he was ever left out of the final decision to go to war. "I knew as much as anybody," Powell said. "I was included in all of the military planning and preparations."
