I sure can't play 'em, but I love 'em. Guitars. Well actually, as a kid, like everyone else who couldn't play a guitar, I learned the beginning riffs of Chicago's "25 or 6 to 4" (who didn't learn that one?), and, yeah, Deep Purple's "Smoke on the Water. Whoopee ding dong, as my nephew used to say. But the 3rd riff I could actually play well - taught to me by my brother - was Aerosmith's "Dream On."
Tech Central's Edward Driscoll on the technology crossroads of guitars. What a cool piece.
Speaking of guitars, have you ever seen Gibson's website? Their motto is: "Lyrics. Wasted time between solos." This is one of my absolute favorite websites to browse. I especially love classic guitars. Check out their "custom, art, and historic" division. I cannot believe that they have a Duane Eddy Signature Model. Hot damn. Look at the beautiful Jimmy Page Les Paul, too. And I love the Joe Perry (Aerosmith) Signature Model. One of my personal favorites, Southern rocker Gary Rossington, also has a sig model.
If I was loaded, I'd buy guitars just to set them up around the house and look at them. Thank goodness for Wal-Mart, where we can buy great, Chinese-made guitars at great prices. (kidding, kidding!)
