Writes Casey Khan: "The US military is starting to sound like the Soviet military with political officers working in tandem with commanding officers, making sure no one in the unit strays from the official propaganda. Soon US soldiers will start receiving medals for holding the proper political stance: 'Everything is great in Iraq.' 'Things are much better than portrayed in the media.' 'I like 120 degrees, eating MRE's, while missing my wife and kids.' Say these things and you'll get Silver Star.

"Like in the movie of Dr. Zhiavago, when the political officer says, 'At the end of this conflict, everyone will be judged politically regardless of his military record. All that matters is the revolution.' All that matters for the grunts is that they disregard their own reality and submit to the liberation. Staying alive is a distant second."
