Jefferson Davis Limbaugh?

Posted by Thomas DiLorenzo at June 26, 2003 03:33 PM

Driving to the office today, I listened to Rush Limbaugh championing states' rights. He sounded like he had just finished Calhoun's Disquisition on Government and was all fired up over it. I had this vision of him driving around town in his Mercedes S500 with big Confederate battle flags flapping from the antennae and his wife in one of those Confederate flag bikinis (like Karen DeCoster wears) in the seat beside him.

But, alas, as I kept listening, I discovered that Rush is no Jeff Davis. The main reason he was bloviating about states' rights is that the Supreme Court struck down a Texas law that put two gay men in prison for a night when the police broke into their apartment and found them engaging in an illegal (in Texas) sexual activity. If the court had ruled the opposite way, I'm sure Rush would have been all over it for not intervening enough in Texas affairs.
