The image of the back alley abortionist is popular among pro-abortionists since it conjures up images of such desperate and impoverished people. The reality, however, is not that there are doctors out there performing abortions behind dumpters when abortions are illegal. There have always been doctors willing to declare that the life of the mother is in danger (whatever the reality), and perform the abortion in his office.
I asked a pro-choice professor friend of mine where all these back-alley abortionists do business; he laughed and replied that they all hang out next to your back-alley bookie. Convenient!
