Following Rick Bragg’s departure from the New York Times, Judith Miller gives us yet more scandal fodder. Miller is the paper’s claimed “bioterrorism expert.” It turns out that Miller was using Ahmad Chalabi as her main WMD source. Chalabi is also the shill for the Pentagon. As the Guardian Unlimited reported: “That in turn suggested that the Pentagon and Mr Chalabi had used the paper to help create justification for war.” Miller’s stories – pre-Iraq war – bolstered claims that, indeed, Iraq had a massive stockpile of WMDs (that have yet to be found). Of course, the media - and especially the Times – helped to start this war.
