English Teeth?

From a reader in Tyreso, Sweden: "First of all, thanks for a wonderfully entertaining site. Second, I like to take issue with the laughable claim that tea prevents tooth decay. Have you heard the expression 'English teeth'? Actually,
Martin Amis's autobiography dwells a lot on that subject. Now, is there a nation (save China?) where people drink more tea than in good old Albion? So there you are: science is so full of absurdities (nicer word than a certain four-letter one), that I've stopped listening to what those please-can-we-have-more-government-funds-types are saying."
