The need for “verbal economy” when texting and Tweeting have added instantly recognizable acronyms to our lexicons: TTFN, OMG and the ever popular WTF. While Contagious Apathy might slow things down, with your help “WTO” could quickly “go viral”!

WTO = Where’s The Outrage?

That question – along with appropriate head-scratching – has pundits stumped. The MSM Blow-Dried Set have appeared cautiously optimistic “ordinary citizens” Joe and Jane Sixpack, are not “mad as hell” at all; reports of ‘Yelling From Windows’ pretty much non-existent. Even beat reporters are hesitant to report.

WTO?

It’s not as if there isn’t a plethora of provocation:

Park Rangers ordered to “make life difficult for people” WTO?

Military base commissaries, independently operated, no government money – closed. WTO?

Privately owned businesses? Closed and forcibly closed. WTO?

National parks and monuments – closed. WTO?

Vets blocked and removed from the Vietnam War Memorial Wall WTO?

WWII Vets stormed the Barrycades in their wheelchairs. Now there was some Outrage!

Close the ocean? Worth a try… WTO?

“For the children” Not so much. Amber Alert website – closed. Questionably beneficial Michelle Obama’s “Let’s Move”? Open! WTO?

The list goes on ad nauseam. The transparent hypocrisy and vindictiveness of President Stompy Foot is on display for everyone across the country and around the world – but the Chinese, Japanese and French seem more concerned than Joe and Jane. Of course, our creditors have a serious stake in the up- coming “debt ceiling” debate and they wouldn’t want some trifling distractions like these to prioritize the Government’s attention away from their priorities – like getting paid.

So the travesties continue apace. Citizens are dissed. Businesses are harpooned. The Constitution, a mere tourist attraction. Oh wait! Sorry – that display is closed, just as the limits it once placed on Government are ignored.

WTO?

During my weekly conversation, “Judging Freedom” with FOX Senior Judicial Analyst, Judge Andrew Napolitano, he said the absence of public outrage is how and why this administration does – and gets away with – what it does.

WTO?

Right now, righteous indignation, downright Outrage would be timely and appropriate. No doubt you are familiar with the Network out-take of Howard Beale’s “Mad as hell…” rant. Take another look at the entire sequence here . Think what it would be like if this actually happened on one of the alphabet soup evening news shows. What impact it might it have on “the regime”? Might it wake the “sleeping giant”? Galvanize the legendary “Silent Majority”. Imagine the “water cooler” talk at the office the next day! It’s as if you just won the lottery to just contemplate the possibilities…

WTO indeed.

Long dead English playwright William Congreve penned the famous (paraphrased) line: “Hell hath no fury like a woman scorned.” Thanks to today’s cell phone technology and wandering morals, we will see if the First Amendment’s “free speech” will withstand the latest furious onslaught from one Holly Jacobs (nee Thometz)

Ms. Holly claims to be a victim of Revenge Sex, the new train wreck of social media morality, privacy rights, private property rights and individual responsibility when, in 2006, she sent nude pictures of herself to her boyfriend. When the relationship went south two years later, Ms. Jacobs subsequently found those pictures on over 200 “revenge porn” web sites.

For the uninitiated, Revenge Sex is the sharing of intimate pictures and videos young women (GF) create for their new love interest (BF) using the features of their latest Smart Phones while ignoring the old technology of Thought (DUH). As with many marriages, these hook-ups end early and badly, with the GF leaving and the BF nursing his rejection – but still in possession of those revealing and usually salacious videos. You can see where this is going…

BF uploads said pics and vids to web sites specializing in Revenge Porn. At some point, former GF learns that more of herself than she ever imagined was spread across the Internet courtesy of the old BF. That is Revenge Sex.

A Google search for “Holly Jacobs Revenge Porn” returns 1.3 million results, most of which recount her travails after learning what her “ex” (allegedly) did after he became “ex’d”. While her experience was horrific in many ways, Ms. Jacobs’ “revenge” is to not only continue as an activist/spokeswoman against Revenge Sex, but push for laws against it. While noble on the surface and accompanied by a compelling emotional pull, the coming collision with the First Amendment (and others) should be everyone’s primary concern. Ms. Jacobs states “This material was only meant for the eyes of the person I shared it with.” Aye! There’s the rub! (So to speak). However, there is no statement from Ms. Jacobs her graphic displays came with a caveat or a statement on Limits of Distribution or Retention of Ownership. Police provided no satisfaction citing Ms. Jacobs was over 18 and was responsible for sending the “material” in the first place.

My friend and occasional broadcast partner, FOX News Senior Judicial Analyst Judge Andrew Napolitano correctly points out: “The Government has no business deciding which speech should be heard…spoken or, in printed or digital form should be viewed. Criminalizing that which was freely given and freely received would be invalidated under the First Amendment. The First Amendment is not the guardian of taste.”

Would you be amazed and appalled to learn Ms. Jacobs does not agree? In fact, she coined a new term for her experience: Cyber Rape. She claims while actual rape victims were told: “you were asking for it,” Revenge Rape victims are told: “you never should have taken those pictures.” To them, Ms Jacobs advises: “Do not for one second blame yourself.”

So there you have it: cyber morality! You voluntarily take off your clothes…voluntarily take revealing pictures (or more)…voluntarily send them to your BBF. When you receive international Internet exposure, you’re a victim without accountability – not even “for one second.”

Not wasting any more seconds of her own, Ms .Jacobs is working with lawmakers in Florida to pass a bill that would make publishing revenge porn without a victim’s consent a third-degree felony, essentially asking the force of the State to punish someone else for her indiscretion.

“Everybody’s going to see me naked, and everybody’s going to see me do things I never wanted anybody to see except the person I was with. But if it’s in the name of the cause and to change the laws about this, then I’m happy to do it. We’re all naked underneath our clothes.”

That we are, Ms. Jacobs but clothed or naked, blaming others for our bad decisions and risky behavior is even more revealing than your Revenge Porn vids.

You cannot have Freedom and Liberty without Individual Responsibility. Any serious considering of Ms. Jacobs’ proposed law would be the legislative rape of Liberty.

Smell that? It’s the distinct odor of bovine excrement steaming from Matt Kibbe’s cow pie: “Future Of GOP Is In Its ‘Big-Tent Libertarian’ Base”

Hear that? It’s the plaintive wail of the President of “Freedomworks”, a 501(c)3, trolling for your tax-deductible donations to replenish credibility and operating capitol in the wake of getting Dick’d by Armey to the tune of their $8M “divorce”.

After a fashion, Freedomworks works but it’s damned expensive. On the other hand, there’s a lotta money in working Freedom – so to speak.

On the surface, the piece looks analytical, reasonable, with a positive lilt, opining about the GOP’s bright future prospects under the newly christened “Big Tent Libertarian” Tent, formerly the “Big Republican (Libertarians Are All Lobotomized Wackos”) Tent.” Since the piece was written for Investors Business Daily, that may be understandable. However, my experience with IBD editorial personnel would suggest they lean fairly libertarian already.

Regardless, a closer examination doesn’t pass the smell test.

As the saying goes: “If you can’t dazzle them with logic, baffle them with bullshit” and nothing gets the job done better than several paragraphs loaded with percentages, polling data, pie charts and similar soporific sophistry.

“Big Tent Libertarian”

The “Big Tent Libertarian” language is the tip-off. The GOP in general and Mainstream Republicans in particular have had little regard or respect for libertarians, seen mainly as competitors for hearts, minds and votes; not so much dollars since Libertarians don’t even support their own candidates. Up until the Age of The O, the GOP Leadership Machine (of which Armey was once a big cog) played Back Bench Bombers when not in a majority and Democrat Lite when they were. Obama’s radical plunge to the Left of Left helped expose the uber-wimpyness and even some complicity of the Boehner-led [sic] House majority. Despite all the patently ignored on-line petitions, emails, snail mails, phone calls, town hall meetings, FaceBook “Likes” and Million Sentient Being Marches, principled stands for Freedom and Liberty were sacrificed to the O-God of Hope in getting Valentines from ABCCBSNBCCNNFOX News anchors.

The GOP’s long history of congenital spinelessness finally made it to Stark Contrast when a recent avalanche of polls and pie charts showed super-strong support for GOP push-back against Obamacare, “Continuing Resolutions” and the general squandering of lives, money, opportunity and political advantage in favor of Statism, Gangster-style. But the Push wasn’t even a Nudge. Speaker John “Hic!” Boehner met with Obama, golfed with Obama, dined with Obama and ultimately caved to Obama. Mitch McConnell apparently doesn’t play golf but that didn’t stop him from failing to go beyond a few snarky mumbles about Reid the Repulsive.

But just as Putin played Obama as Garry Kasparov played me (checkmate in 1 move), the D’s played the R’s openly, brazenly, wantonly. The Republican response: “Thank you, sir, may I have another?”

Not only has Frustration reached the boiling point among the GUC (Great Unwashed Constituency), Leadership failings have been big enough for the most politically apathetic to see, even with both eyes slammed shut. But that’s not the really bad news.

While the Boehner-Mitchell House/Senate Tag Team was putting on an Academy Award-losing performance for Opposition Leadership, pissed-off Republicans and Conservatives were getting an earful of the Ron Paul vision that logically, reasonably, historically, academically and irrefutably preached the gospel of Freedom, Liberty, Constitutionality and Economic Sanity in words so plain even folks in Toledo could understand. (Actually most there didn’t understand at all — but that’s because their Union steward told them not to).

The Boehner-Mitchell GOP Establishment Machine took note of the movement, yet they comprehended it not. But they damn sure knew what it meant to their gang of gut-challenged sociopaths who, despite holding the proverbial “purse strings” as House majority, couldn’t unify – under sober leadership – and enforce measurable fiscal responsibility. Despite the 2010 “Big Sweep”, Integrity has a damn short shelf-life among the unprincipled standard issue Republicans — but Statism endures ad nauseam.

But hey now! We needn’t be casting aspersions inside this new Big Libertarian Tent Base…tent. No more of this “”mind your place and get in line” crap, Right? Right!

“The ethos of the “big-tent libertarian” is simple: Don’t hurt others. Don’t take their stuff. Apply the same laws to yourself that you impose on the rest of us.” Right? Right!

“According to the poll, 68% of Republican voters believe that “individuals should be free to do as they like as long as they don’t hurt others….” Right? Right!

“This big-tent libertarian constituency isn’t a small camp of eccentrics who discuss the merits and pitfalls of Objectivism while wearing Von Mises T-shirts.” Right? Rig…Oh my…

Well….so…will Tact, Diplomacy, Tolerance and all the “eccentric Objectivists with Von Mises T-shirts” take your discussions and follow the Big Brawny Men out the back door in a “Non-Aggression” sorta way? Groovy. Thanks ever so…

Think there may be some Big Tent Libertarian issues here? Or have GOP Big Shots narrowed their prejudices down to inconvenient Objectivists and pesky Austrian School economists?

Small and big “L” libertarians need to know Republicans and “Conservatives” must and will attempt to co-op the libertarian mantel. They need to re-brand the disorganized GOP so why not swipe “libertarian” since polls show voters getting comfortable with its essential message. Of course, they don’t actually become libertarians or assimilate the principles. That would mean adherence to the Constitution, Natural Law, Bill of Rights, Liberty, free markets, economic sanity, human dignity, eschewing aggression, imperialism and flipping the bird to the Military-Media Complex. Big “L” Libertarians need to recall Bob Barr and Wayne Allen Root as two of the most recent opportunists who couldn’t make the leap to hyper-Freedom (see Star Wars, 1977) but thought running for President as a Libertarian would be just…swell. Today, Bob Barr lists 3 different political affilations; Wayne Allen Root claims just two while holding out hope for another run for something as a Republican: “He is a fiscal conservative in the mode of Ronald Reagan and Barry Goldwater.” Maybe running for LP VP under Barr traumatized Freedom right out of him. At least that would be understandable.

Beware the pretty sounding, publicly appealing clichés, charts, graphs, and polls that play that old political Siren Song of Opportunity and Compromise.

Anything meaningful would be just too…too….”eccentric”. Reminding statist zealots of these hard, cold facts is like speaking in tongues to the deaf.

Some day political archeologists will dig through the ruins of America searching for events that led up to America’s Great Tipping Point: how the Rule of Law was replaced by the Rule of Feel. Hopefully, they’ll start by poking around whatever remains of so-called “journalism schools” as well as the several headquarters of the Main Stream Media, unindicted co-conspirators of Factual Obfuscation and Public Perjury which together constructed the popular narrative that conditioned the populace to accept adrenalin over reason: “I Feel” vs. “I Think”

The much-anticipated, pre-arranged, Government-sponsored, taxpayer funded hyperventilation of sloganeering crowds reacting badly to the unquestionably accurate verdict in the media-hyped Trayvon Martin – George Zimmerman show trial didn’t fail to disappoint those glued to the tube for the Evening Nooze. The One-Eyed God delivered with perfection a super-sized portion of mis – and disinformation and outright lies smothered in vitriol with the customary side-order of celebrity hubris, heavy on the narcissism and served Extra Loud. Who could ask for anything more?

An “Extra-Added” never-before-seen feature was the First American President To Inject Himself in the First American Stalinist “Show Trial”. As PJ Media’s Roger Simon puts it:

“By injecting himself in a minor Florida criminal case by implying Martin could be his son, the president of the United States — a onetime law lecturer, of all things — disgraced himself and his office, made a mockery of our legal system and exacerbated racial tensions in our country, making them worse than they have been in years. This is the work of a reactionary, someone who consciously/unconsciously wants to push our nation back to the 1950s.

It is also the work of a narcissist who thinks of himself first, of his image, not of black, white or any other kind of people. It’s no accident that race relations in our country have gone backwards during his stewardship.”

Put more succinctly: Barack Obama is responsible for the most dramatic decrease in a nation’s standing since Alderaan was blown up by the Death Star.

But apparently, the “could have been my son” comment didn’t go quite far enough. Interrupting regular programming this day (something not done by all networks), the administration’s media handmaiden, ABC News decided their dwindling audience needed to hear the President’s personal comments about the African-American’s perspective on the trial and verdict. Of course, President’s unrestrained narcissism was in full bloom:

“That includes me,” he said

“That happens to me, at least before I was a senator.”

“Trayvon Martin could have been me 35 years ago,”

Based on his earlier comment, that would indicate Obama could have been his own son. How cool is that?

But I digress. What to do to help our intrepid future truth-seekers discover the “reason for the fall”?

Invariably, there is a catalytic ingredient, the Missing Link that explains all. It’s Vigilante Journalism.

The late Rodney Dangerfield famously said, “I get no respect”. That sad distinction is now shared with the Rule of Law. In the great linguistic tug of war between “Thinking” and “Feeling”, “Feeling” scores another 10 points in coverage of the George Zimmerman verdict. In the adjoining stadium, the Rule of Law, while winning on a technicality (the law), is poised to relinquish the cherished “Cornerstone of Our Republic” title to the Rule of Feel, thanks to Vigilante Journalism

The advance of technology vis a vis: handi-cams, flip phones, cell phone cameras, the “citizen journalist” (see: computer…basement…underwear), opinion entitlement while factually challenged all expedited the creation and fan base of our manipulative, facts-be-damned Main Stream Media. The Who-What-Where-When of News morphed into the “I Feel…” of what used to be called Truth and Fact.

Vigilante Journalism, a brilliantly accurate term conjured years ago by Cassie Wilson, veteran journalist, writer and my bride. Facts be damned! Today’s Evening News is reported thus, not to inform but because it will elicit sensational responses, predictably galvanize hatreds and skew perceptions. The Byline, Prime Time exposure, “changing the world for all personkind” is the overriding imperative. Like the song says, the Blow-Dried Set believes…

We are the world
We are the children
We are the ones who make a brighter day
so keep on watchinnggg…
There’s a choice we’re making
We’re saving our own jobs
It’s true we’re dumbing down the day For you and meee…

Back to you, Chet…

Vigilante Journalism, on display every Sunday morning on broadcast TV, weekday evenings on cable and 24/7 on my beloved Talk Radio, is the gumbo of Professional Hubris, Inflamed Ego and just a soupcon of Insufferable Condescension, all for the sake of what has become journalism’s 3 R’s: Ratings, Revenue and Resume.

A well-informed audience served a regular diet of conscientiously supplied facts can lead to a healthy, informed electorate and a robust republic. While Current Events are mercilessly mugged by the Alphabet Soup Network Gang, the heroic Alternative Media – such as the web site you’re visiting right now – is fortunately providing invigorating factual supplements and red meat reality for those curious enough to find it and intellectually adroit to handle it. Vigilante Journalism is simply a tingle looking for a leg to run up. Don’t give it to them – or the Rule of Law will soon become the Law of the Rulers.

For someone who single-handedly brought about the landmark Heller decision, it is nearly incomprehensible Robert Levy penned the atrocity that appeared under his name in the New York Times. The Old Gray Lady used Levy’s stature to heap decidedly un-libertarian blessings on the resubmission of the recently defeated Mancin-Toomey “compromise” gun control legislation. That the Times so bastardized “libertarian” as an adjective to warn lawmakers is not surprising.

Levy recommends the Senate should pass the bill warts and all lest they and gun owners suffer”…accusations from President Obama and others that they are merely obstructionists, zealots who will not agree to common-sense gun legislation”.

What happened to principles vs. ad hominyms?

Other errors of omission or commission:

It would allow Americans to buy handguns from out-of-state sellers, which is not allowed currently.

Wrong as written. A handgun seller in Peoria can sell to anyone in the USA providing it is shipped to the buyer’s FFL holder and said buyer successfully submit to the BATFE Form 4473 processing through the NICS System. Regardless of the local FFL participation, the buyer is purchasing the handgun from an out of state seller. The M-T compromise does not circumvent or eliminate the 4473 – NICS process.

It would explicitly prohibit the creation of a national gun registry, and make it a felony, punishable by up to 15 years in prison, to misuse records from the national database used for background checks.

Even the Most Tenuously Connected know this. Previous administrations have wallowed in multiple violations of the Constitution, Bill of Rights, Rule of Law, Magna Carta, Ten Commandments, Ms. Manners and the Red Hat Society. Government’s collective (pun intended) record continues to grow poorly disguised as the US Revised Code, SCOTUS precedents and innumerable suffocating regulations.

To wit: HHS Kathleen Sebelius’ latest move conjoining HIPPA and NICS to “share” your personal health info in order to “insure” elusive “public safety” remarkably ignoring the sharing health info via HIPPA is illegal.

“Extending background checks to unlicensed sellers shouldn’t be cause for alarm…”

One word: Infringe. Another word: Waco. Can anything originating within government have a positive relationship with advancing Freedom, Liberty, and Individual Responsibility? When has this President – or any politician – spoke out affirmatively for Life, Liberty, Private Property and then so much as proposed legislation enhancing any one of them or repealing just one of those that trespass those unalienable rights?

Cue the crickets…..

“…the taxpayers – not just law-abiding gun owners – should foot some of the bill [to add] more F.B.I. staff members to manage the database [to]help expedite the process..The government needs to hire enough staff members to promptly conduct checks…”

This is hardly the libertarian notion of smaller government and less regulatory intrusion. It is confounding any bona fide libertarian would place such faith in the efficiency and goodness of federal agencies.

“Gun-rights supporters should not stand in the way of reasonable reform.”

Here’s real libertarian “reasonable”: Repeal of FOPA 86, GCA 68, NFA34, and a statute requiring that any local, county, state, or federal official who violates the 2nd Amenedment shall be subject to a 10 year minimum prison sentence at hard labor. Hand copying the Constitution. With quill and parchment. With a minimum of 5,000 error and smudge free copies required to be produced before he’s unshackled. Copies to be sold to help defray the costs of his daily gruel.

What’s missing in all “gun control” discussions is the inconvenient fact the Constitution, as written, does not grant the federal government any authority over firearms within the 50 united States irrespective of the Second Amendment.

“The Manchin-Toomey proposal, with the changes I’ve suggested, would offer substantial benefits while imposing tolerable restrictions…”

Who gets to define “tolerable”? As the quote worthy Tom Sowell notes: “The most basic question is not necessarily what’s “best”, but who shall decide what’s best.” (Emphasis mine).

“…none of which intrude on our core Second Amendment liberties.”

So incremental intrusion (see also: infringement) is ok? There is nothing “libertarian” about that!

“Mancin-Toomey would offer substantial benefits while imposing tolerable restrictions”

The perfect epitaph for the Second Amendment.

Ever notice how difficult it is to type with your fists? It kills accuracy, disturbs the neighbors and it wreaks havoc on your keyboard. This is my 3rd one so far today.

There’s more than enough outrageous crap served up by the lamestream media to provide ample reasons for your simple scribbler to be so adversely effected. One would think after all these years of pushing mics around, I’d be more a Carrier than a Victim. But these last few months separated from the rigors of prepping for a daily 3 hour show and working on the birthing of theLibertas Media Project, the therapeutic aspects of daily Talk Show hosting have been sorely missed. Absent the obligation I have had the dubious opportunity to listen occasionally to the “Giants” in my business, the indulgently compensated, contractually secure and religiously adored Hosts who dominate 9 prime time hours of the top Talk stations in the Top 100+ radio markets, preaching Conservative sermons mostly to the choir, the congregation and Those of Little Faith held captive and tortured by the sound systems of the modern days Devil’s Island: auto service departments or various waiting rooms from which there is no practical escape.

Being “in the biz”, I am generally immune to the brand of “info-tainment” perfected by the Terrible Triumvirate of Talk: All Conservatism, All The Time – non-stop bashing of Congress, Liberals/Progressives and the present administration. Not that they individually and collectively haven’t strenuously earned every syllable of criticism, denunciation, condemnation and ridicule; not at all. However, to believe and preach the tenets of Conservatism represent the antidote for these deadly infections of the Republic is the Talk radio equivalent of malpractice.

One of the most egregious examples was performed Tuesday, March 19th at precisely 1:50pm EDT on hundreds of radio stations, before millions of ditto-hea….listeners “across the fruited plane”. How this unexpurgated expectoration did not induce mass projectile vomiting onto radios and car dashboards everywhere is now in a 3-way tie for the Greatest New Mystery of Modern Broadcasting, vying with the riveting comedy-drama genius of “Here Comes Honey Boo Boo” and the unsightly discharge of a Bill O’Reilly show. The judges – all leading gastroenterologists – remain hopelessly deadlocked.

But I digress.

Assuming the greater intelligentsia that consumes LRC postings has eschewed (and spit out) the likes of Limbaugh in any hope of an enlightening listening experience, I offer the audio proof of the crime against Fact, History, Intelligence and Freedom as referenced above.

WARNING: The following audio sound bite has been shown to be deleterious to mental prowess, digestive systems and sensitive computer equipment. Side effects are nausea, frequent urination, lower IQ and SAT scores, conversational vacuity, verbal diarrhea, exploding dandruff and higher utility bills. Not to be played in front of children under 26 still living at home and covered under a parent’s health insurance.

Click here for audio sound bite

If you are among those teeming multitudes who are Computerly Challenged (or just stuck with Windows Vista), I have provided a transcription of the actual offending sound bite. WARNING: The same WARNING above applies.

Hey folks, you want to hear an undeniable truth of life? It is this: you cannot fully appreciate the freedom in this country… (ah) let me say plural, you cannot fully appreciate the freedoms in this country, nor can you understand them, and I’m serious, without appreciating America’s history. One of the big problems we face, two big problems we – well, it’s hard to codify, one or two… so many people no longer know what the true source of prosperity is. But I think something else dangerous, in a sense, is happening, and that is the definition of freedom that is bastardizing the concept. Freedom is (sic) come to mean hedonism to a lot of people – just do whatever you want, as long as you’re not hitting anybody, as long as you’re not harming anybody, as long as you’re not offending anybody – just whatever you want. Nobody’s right to tell you what you can’t do. And that’s not what freedom is. But without understanding American history, you may not understand that. And so the people at Hillsdale College…

So there it is.

According to my esteemed colleague Mr. Limbaugh, the Founder and Big Head of the Limbaugh Institute for Advanced Conservative Studies, the self-proclaimed “Doctor of Democracy”, the self-anointed All Knowing, All Seeing, ALL Laundry Detergent Maja Rushdie, Authority on Virtually Everything and (allegedly) “proven correct 99.769% of the time” – or so he tells us ad nauseam – has determined and now stipulates what we must conclude is the Conservative definition of Freedom.

Sidebar: I admit to having issues with the distinction between a Conservative and a Republican. Best I can surmise, Conservatives are actually Republicans who are supremely pissed-off at what passes for “GOP Leadership” and go to church a lot. They would actually prefer a Theocracy as long as Christ turned out to be a Baptist or Methodist or whatever faith the particular Conservative professed. Being raised an Unrepentant Episcofailure (a.k.a. “Junior Varsity Catholic”), I see it as a distinction without a difference. However, according to this latest pontification from behind the Golden Microphone (not Calf), Conservatives believe a person living a life without adverse notoriety, conducting him/herself in a manner which harms no one, offends no one, steals from no one is merely a hedonist, “bastardizing the concept” of Freedom! One could conclude, without the guiding force of a Conservative administration, complete with a strict Judeo-Christian Revised Code of Laws and Regulations, we’re doomed! Well!

Here Endth the Sidebar

While repulsive to the sheer concept of Freedom, it certainly does – to use Limbaugh’s unnatural word – codify the meaning and application of Freedom on Planet Conservative. To quote from a discussion with Lew Rockwell: “If that isn’t Freedom, what is? Does one need an omnipotent, intrusive government telling you what to eat, drink and how to live in order to be Free? Is dropping bombs on people in foreign countries for political gain and collateral damage an act of Freedom? Is destroying lives and economies around the world an act of Freedom?”

Mr. Conservative would have us believe Freedom extends only as far as the Conservative Right’s theocratic yearnings permit. For Conservatives, the 10 Commandments may take precedent over the first 10 Amendments to the Constitution, the Bill of Rights. Fine with me if Conservatives choose to believe thus but when you envision America a “shining city” that can only exist with enforcement – emphasis on FORCE – of your personal belief system over mine, when mine poses no threat to yours but yours does to me, we are no longer allies per se. If Limbaugh is correct, Conservatives are just as much enemies of Freedom as Democrats, Liberals, Progressives, Socialists, Statists and all the other –ists and –isms that love initiating force, employing the force of law and the power of government, against those who freely choose not to believe as they do. Despite the fact it causes no harm to them or their beliefs, it is offensive to those of us who believe in unadulterated Freedom, Liberty and the sanctity of the individual, his life and property. Freedom is not an –ism.

Consider the great focusing quote of economist and author, Tom Sowell: “The most basic question is not what is best, but who shall decide what is best“. Who wants this or any other government deciding what’s best for them? Do you want or need a Ruler over your life? Whatever your answer, it is your answer. Faith notwithstanding, you and the rest of the congregation do not have the authority to superimpose your beliefs on others or engage a straw man like Government thugs to do it for you. There’s another name for that and it sure as hell ain’t Freedom.

Damn! There goes another keyboard…..

Not to be played in front of children under 26 still living at home and covered under a parent's health insurance.

Limbaugh, the Founder and Big Head of the Limbaugh Institute for Advanced Conservative Studies, the self-proclaimed "Doctor of Democracy", the self-anointed All Knowing, All Seeing, ALL Laundry Detergent Maja Rushdie, Authority on Virtually Everything and (allegedly) "proven correct 99.769% of the time" — or so he tells us ad nauseam — has determined and now stipulates what we must conclude is the Conservative definition of Freedom.

Sidebar: I admit to having issues with the distinction between a Conservative and a Republican. Best I can surmise, Conservatives are actually Republicans who are supremely pissed-off at what passes for "GOP Leadership" and go to church a lot. They would actually prefer a Theocracy as long as Christ turned out to be a Baptist or Methodist or whatever faith the particular Conservative professed. Being raised an Unrepentant Episcofailure (a.k.a. "Junior Varsity Catholic"), I see it as a distinction without a difference. However, according to this latest pontification from behind the Golden Microphone (not Calf), Conservatives believe a person living a life without adverse notoriety, conducting him/herself in a manner which harms no one, offends no one, steals from no one is merely a hedonist, "bastardizing the concept" of Freedom! One could conclude, without the guiding force of a Conservative administration, complete with a strict Judeo-Christian Revised Code of Laws and Regulations, we're doomed! Well!

Here Endth the Sidebar

While repulsive to the sheer concept of Freedom, it certainly does — to use Limbaugh's unnatural word — codify the meaning and application of Freedom on Planet Conservative. To quote from a discussion with Lew Rockwell: "If that isn't Freedom, what is? Does one need an omnipotent, intrusive government telling you what to eat, drink and how to live in order to be Free? Is dropping bombs on people in foreign countries for political gain and collateral damage an act of Freedom? Is destroying lives and economies around the world an act of Freedom?"

Mr. Conservative would have us believe Freedom extends only as far as the Conservative Right's theocratic yearnings permit. For Conservatives, the 10 Commandments may take precedent over the first 10 Amendments to the Constitution, the Bill of Rights. Fine with me if Conservatives choose to believe thus but when you envision America a "shining city" that can only exist with enforcement — emphasis on FORCE — of your personal belief system over mine, when mine poses no threat to yours but yours does to me, we are no longer allies per se.

Consider the great focusing quote of economist and author, Tom Sowell: "The most basic question is not what is best, but who shall decide what is best". Who wants this or any other government deciding what's best for them? Do you want or need a Ruler over your life? Whatever your answer, it is your answer. Faith notwithstanding, you and the rest of the congregation do not have the authority to superimpose your beliefs on others or engage a straw man like Government thugs to do it for you. There's another name for that and it sure as hell ain't Freedom.

Damn! There goes another keyboard…..

While the brazen vacuity of her “answers” in response to stupendously unprepared Stupid Party Members’ questions was worthy of eyebrows arched to Charlie-horse proportions, it was then The Moment may have gotten passed you — or, at the very least, the enormity of its implications: SoS (a fitting acronym) Clinton, in full bluster responding to the impertinent questioning of Sen. Ron Johnson (Redundant-Never-Never Land), bellowed the perfect expectoration “WHAT DIFFERENCE DOES IT MAKE?”

So there you have it: One (1) USDA Choice True Revelation Epiphany in one moderately unbecoming, undiplomatic belch. And while the repulsiveness of that conceited flatulence is now recorded for all personkind, its’ horrible stench, with an encompassing efficaciousness that boggles the senses of mere mortals, has not received the notoriety it so richly deserves.

For if we really wish to drain all the significance from the dregs of this socialist gasbag, we need to appreciate the multiple uses this simple, eloquent and pseudo-exasperated question actually answers – in a rhetorical sort of way.

For example, take the fog fest over the current attacks on the 2nd Amendment. Please. Sadly, both sides haven’t come up with any really cool bumper sticker catch phrases since ‘From My Cold Dead Fingers”. But now, the race is on to see which side can appropriate unto themselves the check-mating TRE (True Revelation Epiphany): WHAT DIFFERENCE DOES IT MAKE?

See how simple? No more dithering over the Constitution and Bill of Rights. Who needs Uncle or Aunty Federalist anyway?
See what a remarkable contribution the Smartest Woman in the World (1993-2001) contributed to us, The Great Unwashed? Inside the LFZ (see above), our Washington leaders pretty much always take full responsibility for whatever has gone wrong (NB: Except the President. In that case, it’s all Bush’s fault). And why not? There are no consequences. No one resigns or loses their cushy Federal gig. So it means nothing to say it.
Recently by Brian Wilson: The Other Newtown Victims

In advance of the introduction of her New and Improved "Assault Weapons Ban 2013", Sen. Dianne Feinstein (Duh-Absurdistan) was tweeting "Weapons of war do not belong on our streets". That might come as a shock to the Tampa PD and other state and local police folks who take great pride parading their new toys of citizen intimidation (acquired with a helping fistful of your taxpayer dollars courtesy of the DHS) that have become paramount in their local WOOP (War On Overtime Parking). Hey! You never can tell when violent, terrorist-sponsored jaywalking may break out. Unexpectedly. With visions of Waco dancing in their heads, a bullet-proof Public Service vehicle like this could come in mighty handy. Jehovah's Witnesses armed with the latest issues of the Watchtower and Awake! have been known to be courteously relentless in their magazine distribution ministries. That the Boys in Blue already have instant access to M-16s/M4s, the standard issue shoulder weapon of today's American Armed Forces, would strongly suggest local PDs should re-think their armory content lest they come under the baleful stare of the Dreaded Di-Fi.

My media colleagues were also feeling that Chris Matthew's Leg Tingle™ as Dana Bash (CNN Newsreader) tweeted "Must see TV at 11a. I’m told difi will have lots of assault weapons at her big event calling for a ban. And yes, she got permission from dc". Ooooo! "Lots of assault weapons"! (see "leg tingle"). And let her tell you: Di-Fi is no David Gregory!

As the coverage of the fall-out from what has now become known in Mediaville as the "Newtown Massacre" , mis- and dis-information has riddled what passes for reporting on all aspects of the gun control issue. Sadly, print and broadcast journalism has a deep bench for the incompetent.

So as a Program and News Director, here's a Pop Quiz for my fellow media brethren and cisterns [sic] assigned to covering or commenting on this tragedy and its fallout. Before the ON AIR light comes on or the floor director gives you the finger (cue), correctly answer the following:

Have you ever fired a gun? (NB: water, cap, BB, paintball and fingers are not acceptable)

How many guns have you seen become violent? If your answer acknowledges an individual is necessary to operate the weapon, why, then, are you using the term "gun violence" and not "human violence"?

In 25 words or less: What is an "Assault Weapon"? Be specific

(Extra Credit: From Columbine to Newtown, how many involved "Assault Weapons"?)

What is the difference between a "magazine" and a "clip"? Use both in a sentence.

Is a .223 cartridge more or less powerful than the predominant rifle cartridge used by American fighting men in WWII?

(Extra Credit: What was the caliber of the predominant rifle cartridge used in WWII?)

If you had to choose, would you prefer to shot with a .22? .223? 30-06? 00Buck?

("None of the Above" is an understandable but unacceptable answer)

Why is a black gun more dangerous than one made with differently colored components?

If black guns are bad, isn't that racist?

How does a bayonet lug make the "assault rifle" more lethal?

(Extra credit: How many drive-by bayonetings occurred in the US last year?)

To the nearest 100,000, how many Assault Rifles are made of Nerf?

Within 10,000, how many times a day do law-abiding gun owners prevent a crime without firing a shot?

Approximately how many gun laws (State and Federal) are in force in America today?

With so many laws already in force, what are the compelling reasons to believe criminals and mass murders will obey the new ones?

If faced with a home invasion, would you want to be holding your phone or your firearm?

Since nearly all newspapers, TV and radio News Departments have blown the bottom out of the septic tank to set a new level of journalistic integrity and responsibility, all of the above questions had to be answered correctly. Failure relieves you of any reporting/announcing/discussing responsibilities pertaining to Newtown, the 2nd Amendment and any future stories involving firearms. If you fit this description, please report immediately to the Assignment Desk to cover the latest on Lady Ga-Ga's bra, Nicki Minaj's hair or Manti Te'o's undercover angel.

If those of you watching at home don't see an immediate improvement in news coverage, be comforted knowing most everything you need to know can be found amongst the talented throng here at LewRockwell.com. Just remember: you can lead someone to knowledge but you can't make them think. (Insert "Heavy Sigh" sfx here).

"Truth is the first casualty of war" is a quote attributed to everyone from Aeschylus to Alfred E. Neuman. Regardless of authorship (and prescience), the tragedy of Newtown has seen Fact and Reason fall immediately thereafter. While Truth may have been done in by any number of suspects in times of actual War, Fact and Reason were brutally murdered by those who were purported to love them best, the "journalists" of the Main Stream Media.

I, Media

Thanks to technology, the average individual with a Smart Phone, Blackberry or similar device, can record, video and send current events faster and easier than the best reporter in the field 40 years ago. Unfortunately, Journalism hasn't kept up with the Tech Sector. As a result, incompetents, morons and nincompoops have become today's "Citizen Journalist". Along with their own blog and a YouTube account, they are this generations Murrow, Cronkite, Huntley — Brinkley, all from the comfort of their parent's basement. Their quality and content tend to speak for themselves. At least give them an A for effort and an inquiring mind. Sadly, the Pros have used the lack of formal training of the "bloggers" as camouflage, to excuse whatever Journalism standards, training or ethics they may have learned. This is their Big Fail.

As craven as the politicians who leapt in front of the funeral processions to preen and pose, "journalists" from every print and broadcast source tossed any residual vestiges of objective reporting to reveal Full Monty their ignorance, prejudice and progressive agenda. In wanton efforts to satisfy their addiction to Instant Gratification, some of the most egregious examples of factual misrepresentation, woefully inaccurate reporting, emotive code words and blatant editorializing filled the airwaves and pages everywhere. Only the "New Media", the Internet with certain web sites and quality bloggers were the sources of accurate information as the MSM went for days with mangled stories, hyper-accusations, hearsay and innuendo exacerbating the emotional revulsion, a natural by-product of such a heinous crime.

After 47 years in the broadcast and print media, I found this is more to be expected than surprising.

Of course, every one of the Ruling Class and the Blow-Dried Set has a solution: reinstate the Assault Weapons Ban, arm teachers, ban hi-cap mags, cops in every school ("National Guard!" — Barbara Boxer, Duh/Absurdistan), "deeper" background checks and longer wait times for firearm purchases, "closing the gun show loophole", blah, yadda, etc.

Conspicuous by its absence is any in-depth investigation of whether psychotropic drugs, anti-depressants or other SSRI prescription medication was being used by the perpetrator. Ritalin, Prozac, Luvox, Zoloft are some of the popular, widely prescribed drugs whose side-effects can be devastating. Similarly, MSM reporters, commentators and pundits apparently haven't bothered to educate themselves — or inform their viewers, listeners or readers – of the readily available and damning facts found here. For those cursed with a slow Internet connection, here is an incomplete sample:

Huntsville, Alabama — February 5, 2010: 15-year-old Hammad Memon shot and killed another Discover Middle School student Todd Brown. Memon had a history for being treated for ADHD and depression. He was taking the antidepressant Zoloft and "other drugs for the conditions." He had been seeing a psychiatrist and psychologist.

Kauhajoki, Finland — September 23, 2008: 22-year-old culinary student Matti Saari shot and killed 9 students and a teacher, and wounded another student, before killing himself. Saari was taking an SSRI and a benzodiazapine. He was also seeing a psychologist.

Dekalb, Illinois — February 14, 2008: 27-year-old Steven Kazmierczak shot and killed five people and wounded 21 others before killing himself in a Northern Illinois University auditorium. According to his girlfriend, he had recently been taking Prozac, Xanax and Ambien. Toxicology results showed that he still had trace amount of Xanax in his system. He had been seeing a psychiatrist.

Jokela, Finland — November 7, 2007: 18-year-old Finnish gunman Pekka-Eric Auvinen had been taking antidepressants before he killed eight people and wounded a dozen more at Jokela High School in southern Finland, then committed suicide.

Cleveland, Ohio — October 10, 2007: 14-year-old Asa Coon stormed through his school with a gun in each hand, shooting and wounding four before taking his own life. Court records show Coon had been placed on the antidepressant Trazodone.

There are many – too many – more.

I have seen no reports Lanza's medication was being monitored periodically, as required, by a psychiatrist nor I have seen reports that periodic blood levels were being taken on him as required. Medication is to be given in conjunction with cognitive behavior counseling – yet there is no mention of this. 25% of adults in the US are on some type of psychiatric medication – greater than any population in the entire WORLD. If anything needs regulation, it is the drugs, not the guns. Surely you’ve seen the noted side effects for his meds, right? Fanapt (Iloperidone): Psychiatric side effects including restlessness, aggression, and delusion have been reported frequently. Hostility, decreased libido, paranoia, anorgasmia, confusional state, mania, catatonia, mood swings, panic attack, obsessive-compulsive disorder, bulimia nervosa, delirium, polydipsia psychogenic, impulse-control disorder, and major depression. Somehow this doesn't raise the curiosity of the 4th Estate. Could it be Big Pharma's advertising budget has an influence felt in the News Room? Watch the ABCNBCCBS News this evening. Check the sponsors. And trust me: the Sales Dept talks to the News and Programming Depts. Been there; heard that.

As this is being written (12/21/12), there are no reports, results or enlightening discussions or serious investigations in progress to determine if SSRI drugs were involved, despite the occasional reference to reports the killer had "mental problems". This failure to report the historical pharmacological aspect of previous mass killings — with possible involvement in the Newtown murders — has allowed the MSM and politicians to focus the issue entirely on guns– when the guns were no more at fault than a Chevy SUV driven by a drunk that crashes and kills a family of 8. Is there a rush to ban Chevy SUVs? Are Chevy SUVs declared illegal? A return to Prohibition? Limiting parents to only3 children to minimize the carnage?

Only a fool will blame the tool.

So why the mass expectorating on guns? Because, egged on by a complicit media with an anti-freedom agenda, aggressive ignorance and uncontrolled emotion has taken control of the narrative. The practical solutions are politically impossible and the political solutions are practically worthless.

To date, there has been no solution offered that resolves the problem without violating personal liberty, freedom or property rights — in essence, those very things the government has been instituted among men to protect.

Examples include:

"Assault weapons": the term does not apply honestly or accurately in any aspect of this discussion (although the media uses it incessantly).

"Hi cap clips": Properly called "magazines", a limit on these to 20 rounds or 10 hypocritically exposes the supporter merely to a lower number of bodies. It is a red herring. In a Free Society, the "need" for such implements is irrelevant. It is a matter of free choice by a peaceful individual.

Gun Free School Zones, limited number of weapons permitted to be purchased ("one gun a month") and similar flaccid, intellectually bankrupt ideas have already been proven ineffectual at best or fatally harmful to children, students, teachers, professors, movie goers and others.

Personally, I second the idea of replacing “gun control” with “gun safety” — effective immediately, required gun safety and marksmanship classes in every government school. They can be scheduled right after sex ed. If a student is old enough to be instructed in safe sex, s/he is old enough to be trained in the safe handling of firearms. Both disciplines could save their life.

Any "National Debate" and subsequent "agreements" must affirmatively answer the question: Had this law/regulation been in effect prior to Dec 12, would it have prevented the carnage? Anything less is a delusional exercise in futility. There are over 20,000 gun laws in America today. Politicians never explain how more laws will make criminals obey them. Not one – or any new one – can take tragedy out of our future any more than we can legislate a perfect society.

Brian Wilson [send him mail], nationally ignored talk show host and occasional LRC un-indicted co-contributor, is currently annoying miniscule audiences in a number of markets from his technically challenged studios safely outside the dictatorship of Toledo.

Recently by Brian Wilson: The Presidential Debate #2

By now, most astute LRC readers have had it up to here with The Fiscal Cliff. Add to that: Fast & Furious… Benghazi… Susan Rice… Petraeus… Obama…. Biden… Romney… Ryan… unemployment…the Fed…Bernanke…gold… Greece… Israel… Hamas… Syria… Hillary… drones… Taliban… Afghanistan… Obama… GM… Volt… Sandy… Christe… Bloomberg… food stamps… Obamacare… Boehner… Reid… Pelosi… Congress… Obama… Debt Ceiling…taxes… inflation… deflation… hyperinflation… Weimar Republic… Muslim Brotherhood… Morsi… China… Belcher… Norquist… Costas… gun control… (did I mention Obama?)…and I suspect most astute LRC readers have had it up to HERE!

All of the above have one toxic thing in common: the Mainstream Media, the dreaded "MSM", the giant double-barrel filter of bias and ignorance through which all (approved) info flows into our TVs, radios, newspapers, computers and eventually our brains, opinions and perspectives. Although most astute LRC readers have maintained a shield of accurate information protecting their cranium's internals from MSM mis-truths, half-truths and outright lies, the majority of "low information" citizen news consumers aren't so…well, astute. Most Americans have no first-hand knowledge of a totalitarian government, ideological conformity, and blatant propaganda. How else to explain "Jersey Shore"? "Buckwild"? Nov 6th?

[Sidebar]: In a pragmatic sense, the media is our teacher. It informs, interprets and instructs: "We'll tell what it means…" We'll tell you what to wear…" "We'll tell you how bad it's going to be….""We'll tell you if you need to worry…""We'll tell you what your child is thinking…."…greedy corporations""…that wacky Ron Paul". When Americans spend an average of 4-5 hours per day watching/listening to socialists, Marxists, collectivists, fascists and useful idiots, consider the impact. Look at the evidence [End sidebar]

Following in the paw prints of the fabled Blind-Squirrel-Finds-Nut parable, a renowned syndicated talk radio colleague recently seized on a caller's brilliant observation hiding in plain sight: "The problem is the media! If you could figure out what to do about The Media, you'd been a trillionaire!" Sadly, the host remains blind to the fact he is "The Media" as much as the NYT, WaPo, ABCCBSNBCCNNFOX, except he and his clones expectorate non-stop, high-colonic neo-con drivel mixed with self-serving platitudes and sprinkled with just enough crumbs of fact to keep the average listener hooked and "low informed" while the networks continue to slide down the razor blade of liberal lies and obfuscations.

But I digress.

While not particularly motivated in acquiring Trillionaire status, I have been researching the "What To Do About The Media" question for quite a while and it has led me to this:

What if there is a solution to the MSM dominance of information distribution? What if you could turn on your radio (or any preferred listening device) and hear Lew Rockwell – live – commenting on the current state of affairs? What if you could listen to Tom Woods being interviewed about secession? What if by simply pushing a button, Ron Paul would be speaking to you about on-going solutions to restore Liberty? What if Walter Williams was coming out of your ear buds with his unique take on the policies and events shaping our time? What if the News was presented without a political "filter"; that reported and analyzed current events and eliminated political "spin", featuring a policy of respect for integrity, accuracy and fact? What if it was coupled with commentary that examined events in the light of classic liberalism, libertarianism and free market principles? What if you could choose to listen to — and call to speak with – Judge Andrew Napolitano instead of Rush Limbaugh? Gerald Celente instead of Sean Hannity? Jesse Ventura instead of Glenn Beck? What if you could do this in real time? What if there were broadcasts featuring Tom Sowell, James Bovard, Bob Wenzel, Tom DiLorenzo, Karen Kwiatkowski, Paul Craig Roberts, David Gordon, Karen De Coster, and Charles Goyette? What if you and millions of Ron Paul followers as well as the other millions (billions?) around the world searching for that one central source of information focused on the issues impacting Liberty and Freedom could access, listen, read and absorb hese and other great thinkers and authors 24/7 as easily as flipping a switch wherever you may be? What if this was not only possible, but could actually be available in 90 days? What if you could make this happen?

We can do this. Want to help? Let me know. We're ready to begin the Libertas Media Project.

Brian Wilson [send him mail], nationally ignored talk show host and occasional LRC un-indicted co-contributor, is currently annoying miniscule audiences in a number of markets from his technically challenged studios safely outside the dictatorship of Toledo.

In more ways than one.

But I digress….

8:54 PM EDT I've eschewed the hours of pre-debate commentary. Needless to say, I’m in a different mood. And Obama’s inane chatter is not going to make it any better.

The moderator's name is Candy Crowley, reminiscent of a Bourbon Street stripper name. I think it’s really Joe Bidden * in drag. It is going to take more than beer to get through this high politician speechery. “Bring out the Rum! Put Jose Cuervo on standby!

Romney’s answer to the first question was personal. He spoke directly to the young man who asked about his future. After that, it’s all downhill. Romney answers with campaign talking points. Obama gives stump speeches to the audience.

Have you ever watched three man volleyball? No, I mean two against one. If you watched the debate, you have. Joe Candy Stripper pops the ball up for Obama to spike. Joe stops Romney from responding and lets Obama comment endlessly on everything.

So far, only Obama has any entertaining comments. “Gas was $1.86 a gallon because of Bush’s broken economy.” Please, Mr. President, let’s break the economy again! Obama created all those high paying green jobs. I didn’t know unemployment paid so well.

9:47 PM EDT — At this point, I can barely stand the candidates “staying on message.” In English, that means "repetition until boredom descends like a cool, comforting blanket bringing the soft fog of mental stupor".

9:52 PM EDT — Obama really said it, “Osama is dead.”

Now we are reduced to listening to bumper stickers.

10:00 PM EDT — Still have another hour of suffering ahead so I’m going to seek cover in generalities. I will go for any truly stupid quotables. If I don’t put my ear on auto pilot, I’ll have to breakout the moonshine. If I breakout the moonshine, I’ll end up as the next Jimmy Hoffa or King of the Lemurs. The time I drank a jar of moonshine, I woke up in Montana next to a burned down cabin with a Chinese gang lord’s wife shrieking in my ear. You never want to have the thoughts of a hangover and female shrieking in your head at the same time.

10:10 PM EDT — Libya question, “slip sliding away.” How did the “buck” stop with Obama if Hillary is holding it?

This is going to sound lame but I’m going to stumble ahead anyway. There are different ways to say the pronoun “I.” I’m not in the tank for Romney; I’m a libertarian. But I’m still going to say it. Romney can say “I’ with humility. Obama can only say “I” with hubris. Even when Obama says “we,” you know he means “all me”.

10:32 PM EDT — Q: China’s labor is cheaper for iPhones. How do we bring those jobs back? Romney gave the wrong answer. Obama gave the correct answer. You don’t. Go for higher paying jobs.

10:40 PM EDT — Thank you, we’ve come to a merciful end.

Now my TV turns into a washing machine and enters the Spin Cycle. After Obama’s lies, spin seems a bit redundant. As Penn and Teller once said, “How does the trick work? Easy, you lie.”

10:56 PM EDT — I don’t who’s on TV at the moment but he’s another guy who was drinking during the debate. If this is the future of TV, it could be entertaining. I think I heard the same political argument when I was closing the bar last night.

11:05 PM EDT — The pundits are punditing. The boredom is deafening. Clowns twisting weenie balloons into elephants and donkeys to amuse an audience who doesn’t know what they watched for one hour forty.

11:10 PM EDT — The unfocused group think Romney has won. You won’t see that story on the wire service.

11:15 PM EDT — Bring forth the Jose C! I’m going to have nightmares tonight. I hope this post-debate crap is worth it.

Obama’s “cram session” was nothing more than learning to repeat all the lies spoken after the first debate, Romney lied, Romney changed his positions, Romney cheated. Obama brought the points home like a good little student but lies shrivel and die under harsh TV lights.

Romney fled back to his talking points like homing pigeon. If these debates are no more than platitudes, why bother. Is it NASCAR and we are hoping for a crash? There are skills in the debate just like NASCAR but are we thirsting for debating skill? Do we want another man who knows how to run a presidential campaign? A man with good hair? A man who speaks well? A man who says what we want to hear? Or … do we want … a man who honors his oath to the Constitution? God gave me Life not an Obama phone. My God given Rights do not require another to build my house, clothe my children or care for my ills.

Nature's God has given me the Right to Life, Liberty and Private Property. What more could a man ask to make his mark on this world? Some are born rich. Some are born beautiful. Some are born athletic. But we are all born Free. And we have the Right to keep what we earn; we all prosper. It comes to be called capitalism.

Why do my liver and I put up with this crap? Because Thomas Jefferson haunts me from Montecello. If we do not stand sentinel to our own Freedom, who will? The debate is over. The spinners are spinning. The talking heads are talking. The stage lights go off. The audience herds itself to the exits. All is right in the world of politics and media. But what of the orphan abandoned in this dark hall?

Freedom is there in that now dark hall. Wrapped in a soft, pink blanket making bubbly baby sounds; she lay ignored. Among persons of importance, there is no time for orphans. The young woman at the microphone speaking “Truth to Power.” has no time for a wiggling, giggling bundle of litter. The persons on stage don’t see her. They are “Big Picture” men. They have no time for individuals or abstracts like Freedom. And the moderator is a woman trying to score just enough points to face her lunch bunch tomorrow.

Ladies and gentlemen, I give you Debate #2: The Town Hall Meeting. An assortment of men and women more desperate than hopeful, seeking government solace. On stage: two men scheming to absorb that hope and despair. Every execution needs a witness and our moderator does quite nicely.

I hear a hangover calling…

When the electoral votes of the other seven states are counted, Obama wins.

Tonight’s warm up for the debate is “Eye on Your Money,” Shep the Leper’s report of ill repute and Uncle Bill, "The Nanny's Neighborhood. The pre-debate Democrat attack is, “Ryan is a Mayan…brings doom. Wants to starve our children and disband our unions. He will put the elderly in death camps and steal our Winter-Holiday presents.” Arrrghhh!

Pre-debate lowering of expectations, Ryan camp: “Bidden has been replaced by an inhuman cyborg from the future.” Bidden side, “Ryan is taking illegal debate enhancing drugs.”

The Las Vegas spread is Ryan by a broken knee cap.

After 10 minutes of The Jackass Show, I’m putting on Kolchak: The Night Stalker DVD. Tonight’s episode, “Primal Scream.” My feelings exactly.

Drum roll, curtain rises, welcome by Nero’s great-great-great granddaughter. The traditional shaking of hands before the battle.

Libya is the opening question. Bidden opens with “Osama is dead.” Ryan counters with “U2tube video president.” Nero’s daughter stabs at Ryan with “Romney spoke too soon on video apology.” Ryan parries and Bidden slashes “Romney is wrong.” Bidden repeats the lie, “we were told video tape.” Ryan brings the argument home and Nero’s daughter changes the subject.

Topic: Iran. a flurry of sword play worthy of Errol Flynn.

Topic: Unemployment, Bidden goes for “GM bailout.” Bidden can lie like a seasoned politician. Ryan still has the sincerity of youth.

If you did not know all the facts on these topics before the debate, you learned nothing from the debate. If you don’t already know the political tricks being played in front of you, you will be the victim of them.

45 more minutes of this futility of the Truth drowning in the political pit of lies.

Now Nero’s daughter is debating Ryan. I guess she thinks Bidden is losing. Topic: Afghanistan, Bidden goes for “Osama is dead.” Now Nero’s daughter is arguing with Bidden about the Afghanistan pull-out.

Is “47%” the only campaign slogan Obama and Bidden have?

Bidden closes with “It’s Bush’s fault” and “47%.” Ryan closes with, “Mitt is it!”

As to who won the debate, my opinion is useless. I saw only a liar and a politician flinging words at each other. The thought that either represented regime will soon rule my life is very troubling, indeed. Everything was on the debate table except Freedom and Liberty, the Constitution and a Nation of Laws not the whims of men.

A focus group of 26 undecided. If our fate is in the hands of these willfully unfocused minds, the Republic is surely doomed. If four years of economic hell have failed to rouse a public to outrage, a vice presidential sideshow is unlikely to stir it from the stupor of apathy. A once Great Nation raped of its wealth and future has come to accept government as its savior. Rest assured, come November whether Republican or Democrat, the government will be preserved at the expense of Life, Liberty and the Pursuit of Happiness.

Another evening I’ll never get back…

A close friend who has the distinct pleasure [sic] of working deep in the bowls of the Logic Free Zone (Washington, DC for the First Time Reader), wrote to me with the following experience and extrapolation. I believe his insight and observations would be of interest to astute LRC readers.

"You cannot dissuade a person from a position with reason and facts if reason and facts did not determine the position in the first place."

The eternal hurdle of conservatism in the minds of a large component of the electorate — perhaps even a majority, we will learn in November — is that "it sounds mean." I am constantly told that Leftists in general and Obama in particular have the upper hand "because they sound nice, like they care." I am now persuaded, after decades of ardent resistance to the idea, that this analysis is both perceptive and correct.

I am by no means a Romney fan, he ranked eleventh among the ten GOP candidates for me, but I believe that another term of this current communist cabal will bring an end to the United States of America. I have made no secret of my conclusion that this outcome is nearly inevitable, but I keep hoping and praying that the nation will come to its senses, but I do not see evidence of that hope coming to fruition. Sometimes a brief experiential vignette brings further clarity to my thought.

Last Monday I was in the waiting room of the car dealer service center biding my time until the shuttle took me to work while the car was being repaired. The television was on and it seemed like every advertisement was either by Romney or Obama. The response of the rest of the patrons was startling in its vehemence. When Romney was on the screen the virulent hostility of every single person (except me) was palpable. I was taken aback by the venomous hatred, and several of the observers expressed out loud a desire to literally kill Romney themselves. Why? Because, "He is going to take away our stuff!" An Obama appearance was greeted with enthusiasm equal to the previous hatred as these folks expressed an exhortation to "Protect our boy so he can keep giving us our stuff."

When I mentioned this to my wife and my adult daughters, sensible conservative pro-life Godly women all, they concurred with the general thesis of this essay. Conservatives "sound mean" and are falling farther and farther behind when they try to make reasoned, factual arguments. The vast majority of the electorate is immune to factual arguments, they aver, because the world is now governed by rampant emotionalism, and the Leftists are simply far more skilled at using irrational, emotional manipulation.(Emphasis added) In my ladies' assessments, the GOP has to make emotional arguments to counter the Left and connect with the electorate, and they (conservatives/GOP) are simply incapable to doing so effectively.

Indeed, conservatism, with its message of self responsibility, probity, temperance, hard work, and virtue is a tough sell when the opposition is simply making promises to give away more stuff to freeloaders, moochers, and looters. Remember the apocryphal story, probably fictional but nevertheless imbued with truth, of the election for third grade class president when one candidate outlined and agenda while his opponent merely promised free ice cream and more play time, thus winning in a landslide? That is the electorate today. Future be damned, give me my ice cream!

While my ladies agreed with the facts and rationality of Romney's "47%" comments, they were unanimous in thinking it lost the election for the Republicans because the news media has been able to frame the issue so that it "sounds" like Romney does not care. On the other hand Obama "sounds" like he cares even though he is spewing provable lies. Much of the electorate simply does not care about facts or reason. When I see an unrepentant collectivist miscreant essentially tied for the electorate's affection, I have to agree. In a factual, rational world he would have about 2% of the electorate in his corner. Five generations after Antonio Gramsci formulated the "march through the institutions" for the radical Left, who can dispute the observation that the collectivists control every meaningful institution critical to forming the thoughts, perceptions, and attitudes of Western Civilization — schools, courts, churches, media, popular culture? As I have said before, the upcoming election is a not so much a judgment on Romney or Obama, it is a revelation of us as a nation.

The Romney campaign reassures us with the notion that its non-stop carpet bombing of campaign commercials in October will change the outcome. I wish they were right, but fear they are not. By that point the "imprinting" will have already been complete, and the effect of the Left getting into the public's mind first with brilliantly propagandistic emotionally charged advertisements, and the "persuasion" will be complete. Combined with a 100:1 advantage in "news" media presentations on behalf of DaWon, I wonder if the outcome is already predetermined.

Tea Party activists argue that it's all about "getting out the vote" and that is in great part true. However, we forget the other side has a streak of desperate passion working in its favor. All of those people in the waiting room of the car dealer are desperate to "keep their stuff" and they will crawl across glass to vote for "their boy." We would like to think that people who work for a living are highly motivated to toss out this malignant poseur, but we forget that people who vote for a living are even more motivated to keep their goodies coming.

If I am correct, it may be that Matt Bracken and James Wesley, Rawles are optimists.

Prepare people, prepare. The future is a chaotic place.

Against the advice of my doctor, wife and better judgment, I watched the Grand Finally to the DNC. (See Show Prep Re-Do)

Memo to self: Never ignore advice from doctor, wife or better judgment.

But I digress…

Biden has been made the vice presidential candidate. From the voice vote, Democrats like Biden a lot more than God or Jerusalem.

Obama’s care for our economy is best compared to barbers bleeding the sick. His economic ideas are as useless and outdated as leeches.

Kerry, the catsup gigolo, is adding his lying praise of Obama, the man who shot Bin Laden. Did I mention Kerry served in Vietnam? Was Kerry against Obama before he was for him?

Sarah Palin, “This is a bunch of bunk.” That should be tonight’s theme for this convention, “Bunk!”

OK – Is Biden describing Hitler’s rise to power or Obama’s? Now he wants to compare the Obama supporters to the boys who fought World War II. “The financial collapse hit like a sledge hammer” and Obama spiked the dead cat bounce like a volley ball. Funny, the term “bootlicker” just popped into my head. Kerry gave us bin Laden and Biden is giving us General Motors. I believe Biden has been stealing material from Profiles in Courage not Dreams From My Father. Now Biden has gone to the other half of his bumper sticker, “the man who shot Osama bin Laden.” Since Biden hasn’t put a foot in his mouth, I assume both feet have been nailed to the floor. Biden’s mom called him Joey. Does that make Obama, “Dennis the Menace?” Oh dear God! Biden pulled out a crowbar is trying to pry up a foot. I can hear it creak. Still stuck. He goes for it again! Only a quick toe suck. He must have magnetic taps on his shoes. Two Secret Service agents are holding Biden down by the ankles. Now shackled to the TelePrompTer. Biden finishes speech.

Damn. Just damn.

Obama on stage. Speaks of wife, daughter and Biden but ever so shortly because we are here for the serious business of talking about Him. He calls it “The Great Recession.” Obama is channeling FDR. Obama says, the Republicans want your votes but won’t tell you their plans. I bet two Patron shooters, we will not hear a plan from Obama by the end of this speech.

“We cut oil imports by a million barrels a day” because people don’t have jobs to commute to. “A better path”: code words for Tax and Spend.

The threat to my children’s future is standing on stage lying into my face. “… that is not our future.” No, look to Greece; that is our future.

“I promised to end the war in Iraq.” We handed over to Iran. “I shot Osama bin Laden.” Don’t forget Government Motors is still alive.

Now he has just waded into silly lies. The only change sweeping across the Middle East is Armageddon.

“I want to restore the tax code to a time when the president banged interns in the Oval Office.”

Time out: I have to grab my Emergency Duct Tape.

… “We are told only taxes and less regulation can save our economy. Since the government can't do everything, it should do little.” YES! YES! YES! you blithering, flaming idiot! That Is The Answer! Hold it close and cherish it, you damn fool. “Self government” is true only if you mean yourself.

Wait….why is the crowd booing? (Insert heavy sigh here)

A convention without balloons is like a horse without apples. Instead the Godless have brought in a priest.

I have had only one plea for this government since I fought in the War on Puberty: “Get the hell out of the way.” I don’t want the government to be my mommy and/or daddy. I am a free man not a taxpayer identification number. I agree to the terms of the US Constitution and demand the government adhere to it. I asked no more than to live my life in peace. Yet, I’m asked to suffer tyrants. My God given Rights have been replaced by the slavery of providing man-made “rights” to others: the right to housing, the right to health care, the right to welfare, the right to steal from my life, liberty and happiness. How did my life and my rights become subject to a vote?

Don't ya just hate rhetorical questions?

Finis

Memo to self: Stay thirsty, my friend.

For the blissfully uninitiated, "show prep" is what conscientious talk show hosts do between naps.

(Some would say "during naps"….some would say "conscientious?!" But I digress).

The Silly Season is underway! RNC down; DNC to go! The Carnival of Lies hasn’t begun and I’m already getting a parade of lame excuses: “It’s Bush’s fault.” “The Republican didn’t play nice.” “Teddy was sick that day.” “Harry Reed is senile.” "Nancy Pelosi is off her meds!" There's an old saying claimed by every branch of the Armed Services: “Excuses are like (a certain sphincter), everybody’s got one.”

And what is this “Incomplete” bovine scatology? Maybe if he spent less time on the golf course, he could have finished his presidential assignments on time. “Incomplete” is just a cheap dodge to avoid the “F” you’ll get otherwise.

Then there is the insult of assuming we are too stupid to understand economic numbers. Obama created a zillion jobs and the phony government unemployment number still climbs to 8.3%. Don’t wiz on my leg and tell me it’s raining. 2% GDP growth means the economy is on empty and coasting downhill. More people than ever before are on food stamps because we are better off than we were four years ago?

Obama grades himself “incomplete,” blames our economic disaster on Bush and the Republicans and tells us he has created a better economy. Even his lies are inconsistent. The Democrats are sitting at the bottom of a hole claiming a panoramic view from their lofty perch.

They have to pay bums and bus Sunday school classes into the convention to fill the seats. No politician with a career wants to be seen with Obama. The campaign’s responses to questions have become delusional. They can’t even answer simple questions about their platform. Obama takes credit for states that haven’t gone bankrupt.

Obama is clueless. He has a vice president with more feet in his mouth than teeth. He runs clips of the greatest icon of presidential failure, Jimmy Carter. He needs his wife to reintroduce him to the

American people because we have learned who he really is. He needs Monica Lewinsky’s boyfriend to get out the base that thinks Obama a joke. Obama is a man without substance. A fool in the bright light of common sense. Obama is a child devoid of wisdom and empathy. He is the four horsemen riding against Freedom.

Oh — this is rich. They have dug up Ted Kennedy for a wake of lies. Isn't it strange how no one remembers a young woman left to drown? That is Teddy’s real legacy. Now we have the dead Teddy attacking Romney. No doubt, Teddy and his brothers will be voting for Obama. Several times. Teddy's dream is free men’s nightmare. Excuse me while I empty my barf bag. Enough CNN – let’s try Fox Business Network….

Now I have to watch Democrats dodging questions on FBN. Isn’t there a way to cover the Democratic Convention without talking to Democrats? Can Obama be elected on a campaign of slander? Obama has gone from “hope and change” to “fear and doubt.” I fear I don’t have enough beer to suffer this circus. And I doubt I have the stomach to watch all five hours of coverage.

16 trillion! Let’s see Romney top that! Now an Obama liar is explaining the 16 trillion isn’t Obama’s debt. Between the lies, the liar inserted, “you are too stupid to appreciate the president’s economic genius.” Wow, that’s the kind of talk that will get my vote!

(Note: I’m not putting down names because it doesn’t matter. All the Democrats are interchangeable idiots. They all come out, lie, slander, insult and leave a sour taste in the mouth of any reasonable person. Off to FNC….

Oh crap! The Jackass Show! Off to MSNBC…

A commercial, no one wants to cover the speech taking place. Lies have been replaced by inane babble. The words are so devoid of meaning they do not even rise to the level of lies. Off to CNN…

The same lair from a previous channel is telling the same lies. They switched to the speech. Where is that manure spreader I was pricing today? I should have it now.

Excuse me while I get my hip boots.

Excuse me again; I’ll need a wet suit and scuba gear for this.

Republicans blocked everything Obama tried to do and Obama accomplished more than anyone in history. Who writes this crap for these chuckleheads? I wrote SNL sketches better than this — and twice as credible!

Note to Self: Consider career change to Political Speech Writer. Only work every 2 years. Credibility not required.

Note to Obama: Find out who was that dude your wife was talking about. She may be sleeping with him.

The speeches are not so warm and fuzzy when you speak liberal. When you hear the words from their hearts not their lying mouths. When you see the ugliness of their evil souls, their words are without comfort. Yes, it was a great side show as once sold by carnivals now past. A collection of freaks at which the marks can gape. A geek biting the head off a chicken. Live and Direct! In Living Color! The donkey has been eaten by a snake. Liberty is a bearded lady. Freedom, the alligator boy. Justice the two-headed cow. This is a political choice? Projectile vomiting begins here.

And finally, the delegates file out of the Hall of Delusion with their Kool-Aid mustaches ear to ear. A testament to lemmings choosing suicide over reality. Four more years of Freedom crushing socialism.

As someone famous once asked: With friends like these, who needs enemas?

Note to self: Buy more beer.

“If you give a man a fish, you feed him for one day. If you teach a man to fish, he can feed himself for life.” Yes, there is a whole generation of youngsters who have never heard that old chestnut. This blind spot of ignorance is liberalism, “if you only give a man a single fish, he will have to vote for you to get another fish tomorrow.” But this is only half of the formula for successful politics.

If you make a man dependent on you, he will come to hate you. You must convince him your handout is his rightful due, his "entitlement". This is what Obama was doing with his “you didn’t make that on your own” speech. He was telling the useless welfare slugs all success in this world comes from them. And they believe it. They cheered! They believe cashing government checks and spending food stamps makes our economy. They believe Microsoft and Apple couldn’t have happened without them. They believe their welfare checks pay for road and bridges. In a word, they believe they are indeed “entitled.”

This is why Obama went “Whoa Nellie!” when his removal of Work from Welfare went public. His slugs need to believe "Potato Chip Consumption; Sofa Venue" is Work. They need to believe someone who starts a business just found a way to get more out of government than mere food stamps. They must never find out Obama has turned them into something less than men. Their phony self esteem must remain intact. They are the masses to whom the graffiti, “Who is John Galt?” was written. Men who have produced nothing but claim the right to what I have done.

A man does need self esteem to survive but it does not come from a bottle, needle or government check. Self esteem comes the old-fashioned way: you earn it. It cannot be given. It cannot be stolen. Self esteem comes from proving yourself in this world. Not from the soft, soothing words of Liberals leading you to the holding pen.

The Constitution was written by free men for free men, willingly accepted by free men. It was never a document for moochers. Today, Obama and his whores trample on our compact between generations.

Obama’s whores are not limited to a white house once torched by the British. Obama’s whores live up The Hill They rape Liberty under a dome capped by a statue of Freedom. Obama’s whores live in the hallowed, marble halls of the Supreme Court where men without souls castrate our Rights with the scalpel of stare decisis. They live in the corner offices of the auto industry and the headquarters of organized labor. They are the failures of fraudulent "green" jobs and American jobs. Obama’s whores are the crony capitalists, corrupt politicians and worthless moochers. Obama’s whores are the legion who put Evil into public office.

This end game isn’t really a plan. While there is one rich psychopath bastard that thinks this is all his idea, there is much more to this world than he understands. The problem for a narcissist is not knowing he isn’t the biggest dog in the junkyard. When he goes to mark territory, he's likely to lose a vital member.

Most of our world is the predictable result of liberal policies. Vote ourselves free money and the government goes in debt. The government prints money to service the debt. The money becomes worthless. People sell apples on corners. Smart people with hard money just have to bet on where the dominos will fall. With the Fools on The Hill who needs a conspiracy? Obama is a conspiracy of one out to destroy America.

Romney is proving himself to be every bit of McCain as predicted. The man has been publicly accused of three felonies and comes back with… zippo. Someone remind me again why Romney was the only "electable candidate".

One of the problem with analogies, metaphors, parables, and the like: too many people try to parse the message right out of the simplicity.

A recent American Thinker article went from asking "Who is John Galt?" in the context of the book to "Who needs John Galt" when "going Galt" is happening just as Ayn Rand's magnum opus Atlas Shrugged depicted. After chastising Galt "who abandons society, works surreptitiously to destroy it, and then delivers an ultimatum when that destruction is nearly complete," the author plaintively asks "Where is John Galt?" Not Rand's hero but a new John Galt, one who would "u2018recruit' the movers and shakers, the innovators and creators, and, authorized by them to speak for them, would give us fair warning today, before the damage is done, while there is still time to change course."

Where are Miles Standish and John Alden when you (don't) need them?

Ayn Rand had the temerity to die before either the AT author or I had the opportunity to ask if she was still comfortable with her version of John Galt. I suspect she was — since her novel was set in the clunky mid-20th century, some vestiges of the honorable sanctity of Individualism were still in vogue.

What of today's John Galt? Where is he? Who is he? When will this contradictory Messiah appear to speak for us all?

"My John Galt would tell us not what he and his ilk would do to us, but what we are doing to ourselves with the ever-increasing burden of regulations and taxes that we impose on the most creative and productive among us, making it increasingly difficult and ultimately impossible for them to create and produce the goods and services — and above all, jobs — on which our modern civilization depends."

To borrow an old chestnut: What you mean "we," Kemosabe?

Bulletin: You are your own John Galt. You may speak for yourself at any time — and should. You may chose to warn, advise, cajole those around you — or not. You can "Go Galt" — or not. You may choose to "lead, follow or get out of the way". Rand said the Individual is "the smallest minority on earth." It is safe to say Sam Adams never read Atlas Shrugged, yet he infamously said: "It does not take a majority to prevail but rather an irate, tireless minority, who keep setting brushfires of freedom in the minds of men." Strangely enough, anthropologist Margaret Mead may have been channeling some Sam Adams when she wrote: "Never doubt that a small group of thoughtful committed citizens can change the world; indeed, it’s the only thing that ever has."

There's the John Galt you've been waiting for: it's you. The "smallest minority", the "irate, tireless minority," the smallest "group" of committed citizens is you. Freedom and Liberty cannot exist without Individual Responsibility. You are an Individual. Get off your ass and set some brushfires.

For timeliness, you can start August 13th — John Galt Day!

Decision is a risk rooted in the courage of being free.

~ Paul Tillich

World-renowned philosopher and former Yankee catcher Yogi Berra infamously advised, "When you come to a fork in the road, take it."

International recon based on current events confirms our choices are grim. Economists — other than NY Times Paul "Spendalot" Krugman — are unanimous in their general assessment the unholy alliance between the Fed's printing presses and politicians' profligate spending has brought us to the fork from which there is no turning back; the brakes on this bus were blown out several trillion "miles" back; the steering wheel is stuck, too.

So where are we headed? Which way should we go?

The incessant saber rattling coming from the capitals of the important parts of the world indicate the Middle East will be getting hotter — and not due to sprinklings from Global Warming Fairy. Add to that volatile mix, the soap opera, "Eurozone", starring PIIGS, BRICS, ECBs and a cast of spoiled brats raised on the specious promises of Socialism any spark will ignite the wrong kind of Boom. Regardless, Obama/Clinton/Putin/Merkel appear to be on a collision course to do something messy to Syria. Iran, Israel and the rest of the Sandlot Gang have their own appurtenant issues exacerbated by itchy trigger fingers. Granted, touching off a Middle East firestorm might only result in some cloudy weather over Washington, but the precedent and consequences (intended and "un") are as unpredictable as they are scary. By any measure: Not Good For Mankind.

Now consider the other "tine" in Yogi's fork. Pretend None of the Above takes place and all hostile parties return to their neutral corners. Now what? Well, there is that inconvenient matter of all those fiat dollars sloshing around the financial universe. The Grinning Beard of the Great Bernanke lulls us into solace with gently lapping sounds of Instant FRNs rolling off the virtual presses, conjuring images of personal indulgence aboard the QE3, frolicking to the Twist, riding the Dow Jones Roller Coaster all the way to the Hamptons. As the say on Wall Street: "WOW! What a deal!" Sadly, the QE3 bears an eerie resemblance to the Titanic, Chubby ain't Twistin' Like We Did Last Summer and the roller coaster track is out dead ahead. Once the Fed Auction House shows up empty and the FRNs meet De Basement of De Dollar, obligations go unfulfilled and Greece breaks out in America and beyond. This just might be the bumpy ride Bette Davis mentioned. Or worse.

As someone famous recently noted, "There is no longer an orderly political mechanism by which the Founding values can be restored because the culture has been lost to identity groups who think of themselves as entitled victims. Reminding statist zealots of this hard, cold fact is like speaking in tongues to the deaf." Politicians operate on the philosophy "It's not whether you win or lose; it's how you place the blame."

Just last evening, a friend wrote: "It really is time we combine our efforts and treasure to fight this criminal government. Our kids will have no future." How? "We need to form a group of resourceful, like-minded people to unite behind candidates who will go to Washington, replacing Pelosi, Reid, Schumer — and get this country back on the right track". Really? Seriously? Do you actually believe there are supermen and Wonder Women immune to the toxic fumes of corruption that waft through Washington's Halls of Power? Why do you think I call it the Logic Free Zone? Because "Den of thieves", "Happy Dale" and "sewer" were already over-used.

Fortunately, another famous Sayer of Sooth, Woody Allan, offers this timely encouragement: “More than any time in history, mankind faces a crossroads. One path leads to despair and utter hopelessness, the other to total extinction. Let us pray that we have the wisdom to choose correctly.”

Indeed.

In a Friday the 13th speech to supporters in Roanoke, Va., Pres. Obama said, "If you were successful, somebody along the line gave you some help…. If you've got a business, you didn't build that. Somebody else made that happen."

Headlines screamed:

"Business Owners Furious at Obama Insult"

"Obama's "You Didn't Build That" Enrages Business Community"

"Slap In The Face To Hard-Working Americans"

Mostly it's been the Conservative pundits, columnists, talk show hosts appropriately incensed, burning up bandwidth and air waves with passionate push-back. "This from a guy who has never run a business!" "This man has lived off tax-payer money his whole life!" "How many businesses has Obama run?" "This man was raised by Marxists and Communists. This proves he hates Capitalism and American Exceptionalism!"

So far, so good. But living in our 24 Hour Non-Stop News Cycle World, by the time you're reading this the story could already be ancient history: "Oh! This happened LAST Friday?!"

It doesn't have to be that way. What if on August 13th,, the "anniversary" of "You Didn't Do That" Day, business owners of America showed the statists just who John Galt is and declared "John Galt Day", close their business for the day, keep the kids home from school? Starve the Beast of its taxes; the ultimate government groin kick.

Next day, announce that come September, it will be TWO days. Use FaceBook, Twitter, talk radio, blogs to spread the word, invite others to join. You don't have to be a major chain or Big Box store to send a crystal clear message. Imagine independent truckers pulling over, shutting down for the day. Mom & Pop stores of all sorts and types lock up andtake the family on a picnic. Notify the MSM: Welcome to the John Galt Day Flash Dance!

It doesn't have to be All In, All At Once (and probably wouldn't). It would more likely start like one of those cool flash mob dances all over the Internet. Watch! I dare you not to smile! And as Milton Friedman once told Walter Williams: Whenever you talk about Freedom, smile!

Sure, the Big Boys will probably take a pass. Best Buy, Bass Pro, Macy's, Old Navy, Target, Wally World — they'll be all "biz-as-usual". So what? Every individual can declare his/her own personal John Galt Day. Isn't everyone basically "in business" for themselves? Aren't you? Isn't "the individual the smallest minority"? (Ayn Rand). So, as a "minority business owner, I'm closed in honor of John Galt Day!"

Think about it:

*"Gone Galt" signs hanging in business windows everywhere!

*Voice Mail message: "Hello, you've reached Exceptional Services. We are closed in honor of John Galt Day. We'll be back tomorrow. Thanks for your business. For more information, read Atlas Shrugged."

Simple. No massive organizing. No herding cats. No moving parts. Literally: a spontaneously combusted Just Do It. A current event silver bullet at Big Government. A gold nugget of Freedom for everyone to see. Or, if you prefer, a bitch-slap response to a Presidential insult.

Call your neighbors! Text your friends! Ask your favorite business places to take the day. Get the local Chamber of Commerce behind it! Show your appreciation giving them your business!

John Galt Day. August 13, 2012.

Just do it — for Freedom! (And it will feel really, really good!)

Brian Wilson [send him mail], nationally ignored talk show host and occasional LRC un-indicted co-contributor, is currently annoying miniscule audiences in a number of markets from his technically challenged studios safely outside the dictatorship of Toledo.

The Silly Season hit a new low with Obama calling Romney a felon. Talk about an IQ test question! Without knowing anything, how stupid do you have to be to take the claim seriously? Yet, all the blow-dried TV pundits are counting the number of angels dancing on that pinhead. If Romney is a felon, why doesn’t Obama’s Justice Department stop running guns to Mexico and arrest him?

And then we have the demands for tax returns from a man who has a phony, ghost-written autobiography. Why does the TV take the crazy man in the White House seriously? Agendas! Old comfy-comfortable ones, bright, new shiny ones. …Something for everyone ones!

The News isn’t there to tell you something; it’s there to sell you something. Liberalism, bigger government, Nanny State, higher taxes, you name it, they are selling it. And the cost is just a teeny- tiny bit of your Freedom. The TV is populated by liars or idiots. When a man puts his hand in my pocket, I don’t much care if it is a lair or an idiot who pulls out a stump. I say it is time we took a head count. Who wants free government cheese and who wants a Constitutional Republic? You can’t have both. You can’t have half of each. Either we all pull the wagon or we all get in the wagon.

Obama, the lowest man to hold the highest office, just gave a speech straight out of Atlas Shrugged, putting a moral obligation on the producers. Obama speaks large of bridges, roads and everything government. But he cleverly fails to mention where the money came from taxpayers. And those taxpayers get their paychecks from jobs created by the same producers Obama is demonizing. Without producers, leeches like Obama wouldn’t even have a government.

Hmmm….maybe we're on to something…..!

As to the Internet, the private sector was doing the same thing long before. The mass interconnecting of computers was happening without government. The Defense Department’s Internet came from work done by those producers in the private sector Obama so hates. Government can build a bridge with other people's money but it takes an individual to design, architect and engineer it.

Who is John Galt? A question older than itself. A question asked in a struggling colony called Plymouth. A question asked in Philadelphia some years later. A question asked whenever the sign post ahead directs the lonely traveler to Freedom and Capitalism or Tyranny and Communism. Either a man has a Right to his Property or the State has the Power to Redistribute it. When on the cusp, men are always faced with a future to choose. On rare occasion, they chose Freedom. The History of tyranny proves the mass appeal of “free” government stuff. Ironic that a nation at war with drugs is itself addicted to the generous largess of government at the expense of a dwindling number of suckers who still pay taxes.

Who is John Galt? An Icon of men we were once. A symbol of Freedom we died for once. An unbending will in a sea of compliance. The Omega Man in the world of leeches

Who is John Galt? The symbol of a man forgotten yet despised. “Tax the rich just don’t gore my ox.” How much money do you have to make to lose your Rights as a Citizen? We are all equal under the Law or we have anarchy. How lame does “they won’t miss their money as much” sound? So we as a nation can take everything in storage units because the owners won’t miss it? Either we own our private property or we don’t. There isn’t any "little bit pregnant "here.

Who is John Galt? Our father or maybe grandfather. A man raised by a Depression and brought into manhood by a War. A man who came back from a life we can neither imagine nor tolerate to marry a wife, buy a house and raise a family. The Founding Fathers of what has become the American Dream. Men who didn’t expect government to give them a live but grasped it with both fists and rode it to the end.

Who is John Galt? A Greek who believed no man was born to rule him. A man who believed what he created was his to do with as he wished. A man, a species once common in this country; now near extinct. A creature that walked upright on two legs with a spine. A man who had no use for the phony and the flashy. A man who could spit on contempt at 200 yards. A man sorely needed to become Legend.

Who is John Galt? December 21, 2012. The failure of the Great Experiment. The proof that man is not fit to govern himself. The reality that men have chosen the easy slide to slavery over the hard climb to Freedom.

Who is John Galt? A mirror where we see both whom we have become and who our Founding Dads thought we should be. Ourselves who have betrayed ourselves? A people full of phony self-esteem and no self-confidence. People who need pictures on the cash register and can’t count change. A “me” generation too busy to raise our own children and willing to support our ageing parents because the government should do it.

Who is John Galt? A man who was asked, "What is Greed?” Greed is envy with force. Sitting on your sorry ass expecting a welfare check is greed. When a man has the brains, balls and luck to make a ton of money, who decides how much he keeps?

OK, now explain why.

Any answer also justifies slavery. If others have a right to what I produce, why wouldn’t they have a right to the body that produces it? I’m not a slave if 100% of what I produce is taken but I live in a shack off the plantation? Where is the line here? Slaves not living on campus?

Reading this you are maybe 1% of the population and you are screwed, blued and tattooed. The election, like all elections, is about “dumb and dumber,” “the evil of two lessers" or some hopeless third party. Regardless, come January the man with his hand on the Bible will be stupid, evil and supremely incapable of solving the bone-deep problems of this Nation.

So we end as we began, at the wrong end of big government. Then, spurred to action by the flames of a tyrannical King and now, smothered by the comforting pillow of a Nanny State. As a forgotten hero once said, “Live Free or Die!”

Raise the Curtain.

Cue the Music,

It's show time.

Gazing at the heady world of International Finance, damn near every country is spending more than it takes in. Those countries whose national debt does not exceed their annual GDP are well down the road of reversing that. The BDMs (Big Decision Makers) believe insolvent nations can be bailed out by printing money.

An insolvent nation wants bail out money to service its existing debt and keep the gravy train running on time. In return for bail out money, the insolvent nation will raise taxes to service the existing debt, keep the gravy train running and service the new bail out debt. Raising taxes reduces revenue and creates more government dependents. This results in more debt and a greater need for bail out money to keep the gravy train runni….well, you get the point.

After tens of thousands of years of evolution how come so few people know the First Rule of Holes? “When you find yourself in a hole, stop digging.” (Gracias, Will Rogers).

Why do all politicians believe they can play one more round of Russian Roulette and get out of the game before it ends? How can people possibly be this stupid? I hear BIs (Big Intellectuals) on TV stating with conviction: "All we have to do is print more money." Are Underwear Gnomes in charge of the IMF? Do these chuckleheads really believe when the world economy collapses, they can just move to Florida? "Quick Dorothy, click your heels together three times for a solvent world economy!"

I kinda heard in the background Obama saying, “We need to restructure the European bail outs so the Germans don’t feel as if they are paying for everyone’s welfare." From that I concluded Obama doesn’t want to change the reality of German paying for welfare, just the perception of doing so.

We always hear in boring management meetings: "Perception is Reality". And then some Brainiac will add: "But not Actuality!" Being part German, I don't think my distant relatives are that dense. Once the German people realize the actuality of the Restructuring Game… well, as they say back in the Fatherland: BOO-YAH!

Someone famous once said: "Any festering moron can learn from his own mistakes; it takes a genius to learn from the mistakes of others." (or something similar). Actually, there is a small group of us who have. We never lived under communism but we know it is bad and won’t work. We knew Social Security couldn’t work. We knew the War on Poverty was a loser going in. We knew Medicare was doom. We knew Obama’s stimulus package would harm the economy not help it. We know a constitutional republic works — when you have one. We know the EBOs (European Bail Outs) are no better than throwing gas on a fire. There is a small, hearty band of us who have knowledge that didn’t come from personal experience. When it is shared among so few, it is hard to call it "Common Sense" any more.

I now understand why old men talk about the "good old days." It is more than “once, I was young.” I can look to the past and see the unrelenting growth of government. See an ever spreading dark evil covering the land of the free and home of the brave. I feel the smothering regulations of thousands of faceless tyrants. A nanny state enforcing all that is good for me from womb to tomb.

Stossel said recently, “We are freer today than we have ever been.”* I say, when you only walk in circles, you never notice the perimeter fence. We are not free. We have only reduced our expectation of freedom to match these oppressive times. If you haven’t had contact with today’s government, you don’t know how vile it is. The government doesn’t kick down everyone’s door or shoot everyone’s dog but isn’t even one too many? It you don’t know a secret warrant has been used to search your house are you still free? If you don’t know a drone is spying on you from the sky, are you still free? When a red light camera is your accuser in court, is there still justice? When the president of the United States can kill an American citizen without a trial, is this still a nation of laws?

I know. I know. We are all way too busy trying to live our real lives to worry about politics and government and idiots running for elected office. I pray we will all find comfort in our excuses – for in the end, our excuses will be all we have.

*Having interviewed John Stossel numerous times, he still has recurring problems properly administering Sarcasm. That's because Journalists, like CPA's, Engineers and IRS Agents, are born without a Humor gene. Or maybe it was those two head shots from Dr. D back in his reporting days.

Recently by Brian Wilson: Florida: God's Waiting Room for Freedom

Thank you, Forrest.

For Newzies like you and me, there is no shortage of web sites, blogs, pod casts and newsletters extolling the virtues of One Man's Opinion. As the saying goes, "Like (a certain body part), everybody has one." Like most, some are better than others. And, like very few, some are really better than others.

From a talk show host perspective, they don't get much better than Rich Galen's "Mullings — An American Cyber Column". It arrives in my In-Box a few times each week. Rich has been around the Logic Free Zone for a bunch of years in a variety of capacities that has made him an astute analyst of the Village and the Idiots. Or Kindergarten Recess, to be more accurate. He is a great radio guest: knowledgeable, articulate, been-there-done-that kinda guy. Always makes those 15 minutes worth the listen.

I know you've been waiting for it, so here's the But:

The latest Mullings arrived last night. Once again, another spot — on commentary on the latest shenanigans within the "Pick Me! Pick Me! 2012 Republican Presidential Race".

He properly skewers Santorum's Holier-Than-Thou pontiff-ications about porn:

I don’t care if you like pornography. It’s none of my business. The bigger issue for Santorum is he does care whether you watch it. The dichotomy in Santorum’s position is that he wants to use the full might and reach of the Federal government to forbid the distribution of pornography… This from a candidate who has consistently argued for less Federal intervention in our lives.

Despite the fact Rich worked for Newt Gingrich back in his "Speaker" days, he properly points to this recent discussion:

In a conference call with religious leaders earlier this month about gay marriage a woman said “gay marriage would eventually lead to people marrying dogs.” Gingrich, according to published reports, not only didn’t correct the woman, but placed the blame on teachers.

And to Romney:

According to an ABC News piece in October, 2011 Mitt Romney spoke about a Constitutional amendment which would declare that life begins at conception “and ‘birth control prevents conception’ but that he was “not campaigning for an amendment of some kind.”

According to the ABC article, “two weeks earlier Romney told Fox News host Mike Huckabee that he would ‘absolutely’ support such an amendment.”

Galen's appropriate summary:

Gasoline prices in the U.S. are the highest ever this early in the year. Unemployment is static at about 8.3 percent. The housing market will be in the doldrums for decades. Manufacturing jobs continue to move off shore…

According to a Bloomberg Newt poll “Obama’s lowest ratings on the economy involve his handling of the federal budget deficit, with 62 percent of Americans surveyed disapproving.”

The GOP candidates should focus on the issues that most of us are worried about and will sway their votes.

Those are the columns bare bones; a much better "read" when taken as a whole.

I know. I know: So where's the "But"?

Well….notice anything missing? Anyone missing? If you answered "Ron Paul", you have a keen sense for the obvious (at least here at LewRockwell.com)

Like most pundits — especially that Inside the Beltway — Rich tolerates Ron as a candidate. Maybe he respects his tenacity. I think that's an improvement over 6 months ago.

So using the otherwise excellent Galen Measure of Topic and Consistency, one has to ask:

What about Ron Paul? Try as you might, you cannot find such wacky inconsistency with Ron Paul. You do not find bizzar-o flip-flops with Ron Paul.

You cannot find a more consistent, faithful adherent to the principles of Liberty, small government, lower taxes, fewer regulations, fiscal responsibility and government just plain out of your life, leaving you alone to live in Freedom. What a concept! Isn't that what Republicans, "Conservatives", libertarians, even "Independents" are all about?

But NO — the MSM, Neocons and certain otherwise spot-on pundits would have you discount as "unelectable" this "wacky uncle" kinda guy who, when push comes to shove, almost everybody agrees with — except (say it with me) his "unacceptable foreign policy”.

OK — once and for all — just what is this Coo-Coo-For Cocoa-Puffs "policy" idea thingy? That we don’t just bomb the crap out of anyone and everyone we don’t like because of (insert objectionable behavior here)? And when a compelling national security interest does exist and war must be waged, that we act in harmony with — tah dah! — the Constitution, with Congress issuing a Declaration of War?! And only then do we go where we must, win it swiftly and decisively….. and then come home.

WOW — isn’t that just the most wackiest* damn thing you ever heard ever?

Porn, gay marriage, birth control….yeah, yeah, yeah…No "Wacky" there, right? Just good, honest, intrusive, micro-managing "Big Government Nose In Your Business" interventionism, running your life and mine from those Constitutionally-unprincipled little GOP Dictator-Wanna-Be’s and those oh-so balanced, reasonable, objective news-readers and pundits who love ‘em.

Well, most of them.

Woo-Hoo: vote Republican.

Not.

Here’s another wacky idea: whaddayasay we put The Adult in charge this time?

If I have to carve his name onto the voting machine, I’m voting for Ron Paul.

A post-Florida Primary Review.

Of sorts.

Another primary; another late night of Required Talk Show Homework. While much happened that deserves comment, one big, fat lie must be mentioned.

An alleged reporter on Faux News said “Romney got the most votes in all categories, women … and the Tea Party.” These Fox clowns already have zero credibility with me. They don’t have to French kiss

Romney in public to prove it.

The Tea Party is on my Naughty List. After all that talk about reading the Constitution and history and the Founding Fathers and generally learning what is the real America, nothing, not a dent. They are just the same conservatives they started out as; louder than most about the craziness in the Logic Free Zone. Their cause is just and I support them completely. I just don’t want them to tell me they have the Constitution in their heart.

I don’t care if you like Ron Paul. I’m not asking you to vote for him. Just don’t tell me you believe in the US Constitution while you’re chasing your latest conservative heart throb. So you don’t like Paul’s foreign policy. That’s fine but what is unconstitutional about it? You don’t like Paul’s crazy libertarian morals. Again, tell me what is unconstitutional about them?

If your candidate is Santorum or Newt, as an exercise for yourself, write down their campaign promises and the constitutional authority to make those promises come true. It is not that what you believe is wrong. It is just not the job of the federal government to provide it. If you are “taxed enough already,” how can you complain about liberals illegally using the federal government to implement their form of government instead of your unconstitutional desires? Let us free ourselves of the DC ruling class and take our fight to our own state capitals. (Have you read your Tom Woods today?)

If Romney is you candidate, why are you even hangin' with the Tea Party? Join the blow-dried boobs on the other side of my TV. After Mitt rids the free world of Obamacare (Rommneycare living large,) then what? He’ll run the government like a business? He’s use the government to run the economy like a business? How can any rational person think to run a Free Market? Just get the hell out of our way!

All I want from the next president is a whole lot of “not.” I want the next president to NOT be telling me how to run my life. I want the next president to NOT be taxing me into the poor house. I already have a wife, family and bass fishing addiction to spend me there. I want the next president to NOT tax me for other people’s retirement. Hey! Who is going to pay for mine? I want the next president to NOT tax the rich. They employ me. I want the next president to NOT create more regulations than the entire Written History of Mankind. I want the next president to NOT spend my money buying other peoples votes.

I want everyone to look deep into their own souls and ask if their president will NOT be on my back, NOT be reaching in my pocket and NOT putting his hands in my pants where strangers shouldn’t go.

Ron Paul is the only Republican candidate who wants to be the president and NOT do something for me. When your Mitt loses to Obama, I will be hangin' with the Mayans and laughing at your Doom!

They are saying Obama will layout a "new vision" for this country. Sorry, Marx already had that vision. It is hardly new.

I interviewed PJTV's Vodka Pundit (Stephen Green) and took his advice: start drinking before this freak show and have no plan to stop for a while.

First, everyone wants to know the night’s winning numbers: We have 59 “I”‘s. Note, one “I” was not counted because in was a quote from someone else. There were 13 “my”‘s and 11 “me”‘s. There were 3 “it’s Bush fault”‘s. I couldn’t keep count of the “it’s the fault of a do nothing congress”‘s because many of them were a bit oblique.

I did notice a pattern to Obama’s word usage. He is an “I” junkie. He uses “me” and “my” like Methadone to push the next “I” fix out a few more seconds. Then like a drowning man, when he gets his face to the surface, he gulps a mouthful of “I”‘s. Like a junkie, he sneaks an “I” into a sentence when he thinks no one will notice.

Some of the “we”‘s suggest Obama had a mouse in his pocket.

Excuse me; I’m trying to read my notes…. Obama so badly twisted words, his social agenda almost sounded like a good idea. He wants to take the money he was borrowing to pay for the war in Iraq and use half to pay down the debt and the other half to buy a pink elephant with purple spots? Wait. Is that "nursing home for my mother-in-law" or "an electric car with really big fins"? Whatever… it’s something that will be great for the economy.

I think I got this right but he said "ending the war in Iraq was a blow against our enemies". WTF?!?!?? Maybe I should just stick with the elephant story.

It’s hard to say how many lies were in the speech, my Lie-o-meter rolled over at 100 thousand miles. At one point his nose got so long, it knocked over a TelePrompTer.

Hillary looked like she was sucking a lemon; her hair was done by Black & Decker.

I have to wonder if the Democrats have cheat sheets to tell them when to stand up. Are they standing because they believe the lie or because they know he doesn’t mean it?

Four more years of this clown with destroy what little is left of the free market and leave us living in old GE refrigerator boxes.

At the end, Obama should have been required to say, “I’m Barack Obama and I approve this political commercial.”

If Obama isn’t the anti-Christ, he’s at least his ambassador.

I’m not saying the Republican response was boring but I wandered off to the lobby and bought a box of Red Hots, a large coke and a tub of popcorn. That set me back $325.

The man giving the Republican response could shout, “FIRE!” in a crowded theater and put people asleep. It was like a preview of Mitt Romney’s campaign against Obama. People will vote for Obama just to get Mitt off the stage.

Listening to the SOTU for "a vision for America" is like going to a prostitute for a hug.

Good bye America. I wish I’d had more time to know you.

And now, back to our regularly scheduled hang-over……………

Recently by Brian Wilson: Unless Things Change

Imagine changing the banner at the top of this page to:

LewRockwell.com Pro-war, Pro-Government, Anti-Freedom

Sound good? Sound strange? Thematically, it's damn near perfect for Our Time!

But then we would have to delete "LewRockwell" and insert "Dick Morris". Then we'd have to get rid of writers like Lew, Ron Paul, Tom Woods, Walter Williams, Gary Barnett and the Stable of Others who write, push, cajole, root, cheer, stomp and advocate for Freedom and Liberty. What a loss and waste of talent that would be! What a giant step backward for rescuing the Republic!

"DickMorris.com": a total waste of bandwidth!

What brought all this on? Today I received my Talk Show Host Copy of "Newsmax", the hyperventilating, neo-con cheerleading rag brainchild of Chris Ruddy*, former reporter for an (allegedly) "Great Metropolitan Newspaper", Richard Mellon Scaife's Pittsburgh Tribune-Review. Screaming headlines of the lead story:

"Dick Morris: Ron Paul ‘Terrifying’"

The reformed advisor to the Clintons and renowned toe-sucking prostitute customer breathlessly informs readers of "horrific consequences for the GOP if he [Paul] wins the GOP nomination"!

Morris' neo-con outrage is in Full Blown Two-Year Old Temper Fit Mode:

“Ron Paul remains terrifying. He is really the ultimate liberal in the race. He wants to legalize drugs, repeal the Patriot Act, slash our military spending, pull out of Afghanistan… On these issues, he's way, way to the left of Obama. What makes him a conservative is hard to tell. But, whatever he is, he would be a disaster as the Republican candidate. His bland assertion in the last debate, that ‘anyone’ will beat Obama is both self-serving and inaccurate. He wouldn't. Anyone who votes for Paul and is not brought up short by his denuding us in our defenses against terrorism and his passivity in the face of Iranian nuclear weapons, has to realize that nominating him is tantamount to re-electing Obama.”

Let's take a moment to parse the underlying meaning this cow pie.

Neo-cons must not support Ron Paul first because they love any phrase of title with the word "War" in it. Well, mostly. "War on Drugs" — Good! "War on Poverty" — Bad. Wasted money, wasted lives, prisons as a growth industry, alienation of hemisphere neighbors — not worth a doobie. Free choice about drugs: sign of the Apocalypse.

"Patriot Act". PATRIOT ACT?!?!? Really? Seriously? All Neo-Cons please stand for the Pledge of Allegiance to the Patriot Act, the apparatus being used, abused and renewed to expedite the erosion of the Bill of Rights, Property rights and any semblance of what used to be known as "privacy".

If you like this site, please help keep it going and growing.

"Slash Military spending"!? OH NOOOO! Not MILITARY SPENDING! Don't we need more cost overruns, graft, bribery and toys to expand and maintain the Empire? What about all those terrorists?! Guess bringing back the troops from Germany, Japan, the Korean DMZ, Guam, and Guantanamo, New Jersey. And building that spiffy embassy in Iraq! Oh — that wasn't paid from the Defense budget? Ooopsie – my bad.

Pullout of Afghanistan??!! WHAT!? When there are still more enemies to make? Women and children to kill!? Isn't bin Laden still dead? Saaay….would it be intemperate and rude to ask: What American Values are American soldiers and taxpayer dollars dying for in Afghanistan right now? Which of our "rights" are being protected? The answers will just have to wait until the gas/oil pipeline thingy gets worked out. Ever wonder how many barrels of oil your son or daughter is worth? (Too bad about that Canadian pipeline deal, huh?)

What makes him a conservative is hard to tell. But, whatever he is, he would be a disaster as the Republican candidate. Like the blind squirrel, even Dick Morris finds a nut now and then: Ron Paul would be a disaster for the whole damn rank & file Republican Party. And that's really the point, right Dick? Screw constitutional limitations on government. Screw the rights of the governed while you're at it. MAINTAIN THE PARTY! Solidify the Machine! "Same Old, Same Old that's our cry, if Ron Paul wins the Elephant dies". (For a reconstructed high school basketball cheer, that could actually make a good campaign jingle!)

His bland assertion in the last debate, that ‘anyone’ will beat Obama is both self-serving and inaccurate. Funny — virtually every other candidate on stage during these GOP "Da Baits" has said the exact same thing at one time or another. No tut-tuts from the Dick on those. But Morris isn't really out to skewer Ron Paul. Really. Honest. C'mon — would a Reformed Toe-Sucker and Clinton pimp lie to you?

Anyone who votes for Paul and is not brought up short by his denuding us in our defenses against terrorism and his passivity in the face of Iranian nuclear weapons, has to realize that nominating him is tantamount to re-electing Obama.”

Sorry. I'm running too close to my permitted word count to laugh my way through this one. Gotta give credit for working "denuding " into a screed, though. Senseless and inaccurate, sure — but when was the last time you saw "denuding" in a sentence not written by Hugh Hefner?

And how about the outright lie about nuclear weapons? You can always tell when Morris is running out of ideas: he gives up any pretence of honesty and/or integrity. The "re-electing Obama" line serves two purposes. One is the old BOO! Scared You! And the other illuminates how clueless Morris is about anything that begins with "Econ" and ends with "omics".

Once upon a time, Forbes Magazine referred to Newsmax as the “great right hope” of the Republican Party. Our hero, Dick Morris was quoted as saying that Newsmax had become the “most influential Republican-leaning media outlet” in the nation." How "self-serving" is that?

Wikipedia again: "The company has increasingly attracted national and international leaders to its West Palm Beach, Florida headquarters. Former President Bill Clinton, who describes Newsmax’s CEO Ruddy as a friend, made headlines when he visited Newsmax’s offices during the summer of 2010.

Whoa! The hyper-conservative Chris Ruddy is one of Bill Clinton's buds!? Gotta wonder if Chris brought up any of those nasty Vince Foster rumors during Bill's drop-in! Juanita Broderick maybe? Ron Brown? C'mon, Chris! That would actually put some hard-core "News" in "Newsmax".

More Wiki: According to [US News and World Report], Newsmax is a major player in GOP politics, especially in the 2012 primaries. Visitors have also included Rep. Michele Bachmann… former Massachusetts Gov. Mitt Romney… former Sen. Rick Santorum among others. In 2009, Forbes magazine says regular readers include Newt Gingrich…"

So much for objective reporting, journalistic principles and other outdated notions. Having "the Fox News analyst and Republican strategist" and former "Mr. Phalanges", Dick Morris as a featured columnist are all great reasons to be thankful for the DELETE key.

*In the interest of full disclosure, in the early 90's when I was hosting morning drive on a Washington, DC talk station, Chris Ruddy, Ambrose Evan-Pritchard, Hugh Turley and I worked in a loose confederation investigating the mysterious "suicide" (it was murder) of Deputy White House Counsel Vince Foster, whose body was found in Ft. Marcy Park wrapped in tangle of contradictions, mis-truths, outright lies, incomparable law enforcement errors and omissions, disappearing photos, handguns and never explained carpet fibers.

Recently by Brian Wilson: Letters….We Get Letters

Recently, in correspondence with a very knowledgeable friend of international profile, he commented on an excellent piece "Crisis, Collapse and the Ruling Class" in the current issue of Politics et Cetera (Steven Soukcup/Mark Melcher)

"Like them I am an incurable optimist, but I think the die has been cast that the collapse of the US is inevitable. My conclusions are not philosophical, ideological, or theological. They are actuarial. The status afterwards may eventually be glorious, but there are some very dark days ahead of us."

I agree with the writers and I agree with my friend.

In their summary, one phrase caught my eye.

"Unless things change, dramatically and quickly…."

In my daily preparations to annoy a miniscule radio audience, I faithfully and dutifully troll worthy news and information sources sparkling in the Internet galaxy. In all the paragraphs, pages and pontifications from all sources and all stripes that occasionally focus on the subject of Impending Doom, there is the same caveat-chant:

"Unless things change…", "If things don't change — and soon…", "Changes need to be made immediately…", "…we are on the brink; changes must be made right away…."

Really? Seriously? As my friend noted, it's "actuarial" — and not dissimilar to that other old saw, "If current trends continue…." Of course, they rarely do — so what's the point posting an undependable conditional phrase to justify something that will/will not likely come to pass?

To the writer, after laying out the virtually undeniable, absolutely incontrovertible, mathematically exquisite evidence for some version of the pending Armageddon, they exhort the "Unless Things Change" exhortation. This flies in the face of their preceding excellent analysis and irrefutable conclusions. OK — maybe it's just a "stylistic cliché" — but, if the facts and thesis are to be believed, what purpose is served in offering this willow-the-wisp "Unless Hypothesis", this contradicting pivot that “things” can and must change dramatically and quickly? What about all that economic, political, historical, dynamic proof The End Is Pretty Damn Near?

How about some specifics to counter the Other Specifics used to prove TEIPDN? What (if anything) to do about the trillions and trillions and trillions of unfunded liabilities, (un)anticipated bail-outs, Euro and Eurozone EPIC Fails, unnecessary wars and coming wars with concurrent expenses in lives and treasure and more all-proven and re-proven to be (fanfare please) Unsustainable!

"Unless things change…."? What "things"? Will the trillions disappear? Is there a magic blue pill to cure the GDP's ED? Will gold bars suddenly replace the IOUs in AlGore's "Lock Box"? Will the Welfare/Warfare UniParty have a Paulian epiphany?

(Waiting for laughter to subside……………………….)

I for one would appreciate these really talented and knowledgeable scribblers to present what realistic, pragmatic specific events are required to effect the "dramatic and quick" change(s) necessary for salvation, maybe a return to the Old Normal. Enough of the Doomsday Foreplay. Let's cut to the hardcore to discover those "Unless" thingys that will assure something not so gloomanddoomy and toss the world a life saver.

Frankly, I don't think there is any such "there" there — but nobody has the guts to write it in the specific. Dire warnings are all we're gonna get.

I wrote my friend: "I share your optimism — in a pessimistic way: Indeed, no one has yet offered the "quick" or "dramatic" solution to circumventing the "dark days" to which you allude. If Prof Tyler’s dissertation on the demise of the Athenian Republic has merit, brighter days are just days away. Eventually. And isn’t that the question: How long until we reach Eventually? Will we see Eventually in our lifetime? Our sons? Daughters? Grandkids?

How many years are there in one "Dark Day?"

Recently by Brian Wilson: Scam and Sham

Hello Brian

I set out a few years ago dismayed with the Republican Party I had whole heartedly supported for years to find an alternative. It bothered me to hear so called conservatives say “I am a Fiscal Conservative” but now you do not hear “I am a Social Conservative”. Where are the Morals?

Why is it that we do not hear much about the Constitution Party? After doing research into alternative parties I realized, as a believer in Jesus Christ, in good conscience could not support the Libertarian Party because they are socially more liberal than Liberal Democrats. Some examples are legalization of drugs, prostitution, gambling and I'm not sure about the abortion issue. It appears the freedom to choose is in line with them. The websites and blogs seem to make fun of Christians and there seems to be a lack of support for Israel.

Now as for the Constitution Party, where are they? I get their newspaper. Their representatives do not get any press as far as I know. They seem to be the party that fits me.

Yet everything seems to boil down to this: Do I back a party that stands on the Constitution but is Liberal on Morals or stand with a party that stands on the Constitution, has a Moral Stand but is in the shadows? I guess being an Independent, knowing what each party stands for and looking at each candidate individually is the key. It boils down to: what is right, moral and taking a stand regarding those things .I have an instruction manual with guidelines and principals that never fail when put into action. We live in a day when men seek to do what is right in their own eyes, making themselves a god and forgetting what made America great.

Best Regards Gxxxxxxx Gxxx

(Presented reasonably close to the original)

Congratulations on your departure from the Warfare Party. Since Morality is your major issue, let's start there.

Supporting illegal and immoral wars is a fatal flaw of both parties. That said, I don't know that there is any productive future attempting to harmonize faith in Jesus Christ with the "morality" of a political party; the two appear to be polar opposites. However, there may be a basis for at least understanding the principles involved which could lead to a positive, more comprehensive conclusion.

First, let's agree that politics/political parties are in place to run the Government: Democrat, Republican, Libertarian, Green, Communist, Constitution and their respective philosophies interpreting and applying their concept of what constitutes "governance" in America. From both a moral and logical perspective, we can reduce the number of moral parties/philosophies down to one by applying the pragmatic reality of two words: Force and Choice.

All political philosophies — except libertarian — enthusiastically employ the use of government force to achieve their agenda. One example is their unilateral endorsement of the income tax. While enshrined in the 16th Amendment, its history is as problematic as its alleged morality. Most everyone would agree paying income taxes is hardly "voluntary" as the government myth goes; rather it is extortion of private property through the monopoly of force wielded by Government. "Force" — as opposed to voluntary participation and reason — radiates from all sizes and stages of Government. George Washington famously said, "Government is Force." An immoral/illegal act is not sanctified because it is practiced by Government. And yet, all political philosophies –except libertarianism — endorse the agencies, regulations, taxes, fines backed by men with guns to enforce them. To my knowledge, the Constitution Party does not take a contrary stand.

"Choice", the greatest freedom of all, separates libertarianism from all the other political philosophies. Libertarianism is the belief in and practice of self-governance, the freedom to choose while simultaneously accepting responsibility for the consequences of that choice. The only caveat, whatever the "choice", that it does not aggressively trespass another's right to choose for himself. Some call it the Right To Be Left Alone.

Based on the above, Libertarianism is the only moral political philosophy in American politics. The use of force and coercion is not encouraged, practiced or tolerated; Liberty and Freedom to choose are paramount. You could say the Golden Rule embodies much of the libertarian philosophy. That isn't to suggest that Libertarians are not imperfect or "fall short of the glory of God" in any way. It is to say that the libertarian application of Freedom through self-governance and free choice is most akin to that of the Founding Dads and furthest from Force embraced by the others.

Your objections to legalization of drugs, prostitution, gambling are excellent examples of application of that morality. Libertarians do not endorse drugs, prostitution, gambling, abortion or any other contentious issues. No libertarian is forced to agree or disagree with any of those things; they and you are free to choose — and accept the responsibility for your choice. Libertarians endorse Freedom, Liberty and Individual Responsibility. If I recall correctly, the Bible endorses Free Will and Free Choice in that God didn't create a planet full of pre-programmed robots. Scripture strongly admonishes the reader to make the right choices, then presents instructive examples, histories and parables of those who did (and did not) and the subsequent results. But ultimately, God gave us Free Will and Free Moral Agency with the ability to reason and freedom to choose accordingly. Sure, we can choose incorrectly — but God sanctions that free choice. It is up to the individual to choose wisely – but it is up to the individual.

It is not up to Republicans, Conservative, Liberals, Progressives, Democrats, Communists, Green, Constitution Party apparatchiks or libertarians to dictate through Government force of law what our choices must be. Libertarianism is the only political philosophy which totally endorses your right and freedom to choose.

If you prefer a Party that will somehow enforce what you believe Jesus Christ wants us to do, then I would suggest you are angling for a Theocracy. The Bible promises that, too. But I don't recall God placing responsibility for establishing and running it in the hands of any earthly power — or political party.

Good luck in your search.

Recently by Brian Wilson: The Ron Paul Solution

Center stage for the "news media's" regularly scheduled kabuki: The Presidential Debates. These 60-90 minutes of low-grade drama and high-grade farce would have the viewer believe serious inquisition is going on here. In fact, all but the script is laid out in advance. Even the candidate placement is calculated to foment drama and entertainment, not a substantive “debate”. The entire format is designed to embarrass, confuse, distract and entertain rather than provide honest, insightful answers to serious questions about governance and a vision for America's future. While serious formal debating always has a "timed" component, it is generally ample to allow serious presentation of position or fact. Not so much with these laughable Network Events. The "rules" require the candidates to force 10 lbs of You Know into a 5 lbs bag. Despite politicians' congenital desire to filibuster, it is ludicrous to expect conscientious voters to reach a well-founded decision on whom to support based on a 2 minute sound-bite response to dramatic, rhetorical, loaded “gotcha” questions, cleverly crafted to hog-tie the respondent. That’s not an excuse for any candidate who steps in it with a poorly presented answer, but a level of awareness must prevail considering who asked what question of whom and how and what’s heard in response.

Many have appropriately objected that Ron Paul is not asked substantive questions; that he is ignored in favor of anyone else on those rare occasions when serious issues are introduced. A large part of the explanation lies in the self-fulfilling fairy tale the MSM tells you: Polls show Romney, Perry and Bachman are the front-runners; voters, therefore, want to hear from them more than the Also-Rans. They conveniently leave out the part that those polls are of their own making. They pick and pay the polling company, pre-determine the response, dictate the questions, and see to it the methodology secures the desired results. They can then tell you with straight face: "This is what our polling data shows; this is why we ask more questions of the Front Runners."

The truth is Ron Paul's answers do not fit the Party Line. Every Paul position contains a reference to the United States Constitution, Constitutional authority, Constitutional principles. The unanswered question remains: what is so wrong with a Constitutionally obedient government that gives the other candidates hives? Put another way: what stands in place of a Constitutionally obedient government? The answer can be read in everyday's headlines. And, as noted in previous LRC scribbling, the Shooting Stars in the News Media Firmament can't handle such answers because they thoroughly debunk the currently approved and accepted narrative. They can't be trumped or demagogued without insulting the Rule of Law (which fortunately still has a serious fan base across the country). During the 2008 cycle of these "Presidential debates", Ron Paul was actively mocked and marginalized. This time, the media is pushing its patented "Ignore Button". To paraphrase the song lyric, "Ask him no questions/he'll just tell you truth". And we can't have truth and the Constitution mucking up a good ole media kabuki.

So the recent candidate staging of Romney-next-to-Perry wasn't for show and drama? Nooooo — it was just a natural consequence of independent polling (that we paid for). That they were also tossed the most contentious, red-meat questions was also justified by the polling (and we wanted some serious drama and smack-down action).

But wait! There's More Of The Same in the debates to come, regardless of the network sponsor.

Too often this skullduggery leads interested listeners and viewers to the unfortunate "Rejection! Candidate Not Perfect!" reaction. This seems curiously more prevalent in its application only to Ron Paul. Those familiar with Paul know the context of his references is consistently Constitutional. Due to the pervasive epidemic of Aggressive Ignorance coupled with the "debate's" limitations, it is difficult for a principled candidate to provide comprehensive answers. Yes it is easier for others because the narrative, composed of vacuous and glittering generalities, has been repeated so often, everyone knows it by heart; it is the anticipated response. When the sound bite contradicts it, the listener defaults back to the mythology of the narrative and leaps to a distorted, incorrect conclusion, rejecting the candidate on the basis of mis- and dis- information. The fatal result is the sacrifice of the Good for the Perfect. Since the Perfect doesn't exist, the voter clings to the familiar and ends up supporting precisely what he doesn't want simply because it's comfortable, easy and familiar. For the agenda-driven MSM: Mission Accomplished.

A listener wrote "After watching the debate, I have concluded Ron Paul, while perfect in the content of his answers, his manner keeps him from being taken seriously despite his superior knowledge of history, government and banking.” With 14 months until November, it remains to be seen whether it “keeps him from being taken seriously" by the people who count: the voters. Meanwhile, look at the other candidates. If they are to be measured by the same standard, they all have serious baggage that should elimnate them from consideration immediately. Look at their records of Statism, pork and policy failures. Why aren’t they summarily dismissed by an electorate demanding an end to "Washington's same old ways"? In part, because they don’t have a Constitutional foundation that stymies “the Machine”, so they are given the proverbial "pass". Every other candidate has skeletons, issues, other priorities. No other candidate has Ron Paul's spotless record and unrivaled fealty to the Constitution, the Supreme Law of the Land and cornerstone of our Republic. What more could a voter want — especially at this time in our history?

To the Media, Paul and the Constitution are the Anti-Christ. Combined, they contradict everything the Media-Government complex stands, works and speaks for. Look for them to work their hardest to destroy his candidacy because even with the limited exposure Paul gets, the more the essence of his message is heard by those looking for the only way to save the Republic and preserve Freedom.

Ron Paul may not be an easy sell — but then, Liberty never is.
