Flags of the world: test your knowledge
New Zealand's current design was first used in 1869 and formally adopted in 1902

Pop star Justin Bieber has weighed in on New Zealand's plans to change its national flag to something more contemporary, telling prime minister John Key: "I don't mean any disrespect at all I just want to say that I love the flag how it is and I would really appreciate if you didn't change it."

Mr Key responded by saying that Canada, where Bieber is from, changed its flag in 1964, and that the 21 year-old is a great singer but not quite so great at vexillology, the study of flags.

Which begs the question - just how hot are you on vexillology?

Before New Zealand goes to the polls next month to vote on its flag, test your knowledge on other world flags here. The pass mark is 6/10.
