As the deadline for Oxbridge applications looms, and with it news that many courses will now require students to have a minimum of two A*s, students applying to the two most prestigious British universities have never had it tougher.

Once invited to interview they face yet more challenges in the form of tricky and obscure interview questions. In a new book, Do you still think you're clever?, John Farndon, a graduate of Jesus College, Cambridge, asks, and answers, a selection of questions posed to interviewees. We've selected some of most difficult examples and challenge you to have a go at answering them.
