The Birth of a Nation-Builder

The betrayed spouse is often the last to find out. What will it take for Bush-whacked Americans to see through the lies told them by the government with whom they are so madly in love?

When will those besotted by Bush realize that any government — regardless of whether it is called a Democracy or a Dictatorship, or any of the flavors in between — can become a vehicle for the political elite to control the public and to feed off the public’s labors? A good government exists only when the public is informed and active to prevent such abuses.

When will the average American realize that if government can not be controlled by the voter, the government is their sworn, natural, mortal enemy?

Recent events make me think that such realizations will not occur. Unless, that is, the government wants to use as canon fodder the average American’s children.

That is why, as of today, I am in favor of a universal, mandatory military draft for all Americans — both men and women.

Why would any mother or father want their child to fight in a war?

Because that mother and father want their country to be a superpower. A superpower requires a large standing army. And a large standing army requires that one’s children must be conscripted to fight and possibly to die for a superpower which thrives on killing other people’s children.

But flag-waving American parents have not made that connection. Yet.

It’s those nice patriotic folks who believe American needs to be a superpower who are a volunteering not only their own children but also are eager to conscript your children.

What will change the mind of such a flag-waving patriot: The maiming or death of their own children in Bush’s insane foreign adventures.

That is the cruel reason I support a draft. I have come to the conclusion that a large number of Americans are too brain-washed to see that Bush’s lust after empire is equivalent to infanticide. Some of these flag-wavers are against abortion, by the way.

What has brought about my volte face? The announcement from proud parents of the birth of their healthy baby boy. This new born is the second boy in a family full of girls. I can understand why the parents would be happy to have a baby boy. But I can’t understand why they would want to do so in a country that needs to support a super-power. The proud parents now have a baby boy in America, a country at war; a country run by madmen who openly discuss a military draft. Have the parents stopped to think about their support for the Bush Administration? No.

But if that’s what people think they want, then that’s what they should have. I thank God that I live in Japan: The US empire will never take my children to fight in foreign lands to die for the bizarre aims of the government.

Perhaps instead of baby boy announcements, Americans should send out cards that read:

Announcing the proud parents of future empire building cannon-fodder.

Write to your congressman. It is time to start up a universal military draft.
